We were EXCITED to go to the Poulan Independence Bowl in S-Port, and we went there 2 of the 3 years we went "bowling" in the 90s

The 1st one against Michigan state, I was in high school and still remember thinking the "LSU has arrived". Didn't think it could be any better.

Arky last game of the year i think beat us pretty good as did ND (wasnt think the game we had to have Faulk playing QB?) but i think that was it.

Herb Tyler got hurt in the game and Nall had to come in cold (both figuratively and literally). He damn near drove the length of the field to win the game at the end. Booty dropped what (likely) would have been the winning TD.

LSU really out-played ND and led for almost the entire game (including a 14 point lead midway through the 3Q) Two turnovers for TD's were the difference.

Many of you youngsters are in this century only. I understand. 2012, 2010, 2008, 2004, and 2002 stick out to me despite LSU having winning records with ease those years. 1998 was terrible...could play with anybody and proved it, but ended up being 4-7. Thanks Lou Tepper. 1989, 1981-1983, the middle 1982 team could have been NCs and went 8-3-1 under Stovall. 1974 seemed to come out of nowhere.

3 backs over 100 yards will do that to you.

1998 is the answer. We had come so far and it all rolled back down hill in one season. Read and react.

Either 06 or 12, those were two of the GOAT LSU teams.

Add Honey Badger back into the 2012 team and we win the natty easy. IMO the 2012 loss to Clemson, albeit it didn't mean anything, was the worst loss of the Miles era. Zero reason to lose that game. Threw it three straight times when three runs likely wins the game.

Dude the 90s were horrendous. Fans were ecstatic to make the Independence Bowl, I'm talking big time ecstatic too. Let that sink in for a second.

89 sucked. "hodson for Heisman", etc. blew his Heisman in the aTm opener. lost to Syracuse in the bowl. began a bad downward spiral for years to come.

2013. Offense finally does their part, but defense drops the ball.

Go look at the defensive players that went to the draft early,

Barkevious Mingo - 1st Round
Eric Reid - 1st Round
Kevin Minter - 2nd Round
Benny Logan - 3rd Round
Tyrann Mathieu - 3rd Round
Sam Montgomery - 3rd Round
Tharold Simon - 5th Round

That's a shitload of quality players to lose as early entrants on one side of the ball.

Probably 2007. I just stopped watching us after we blew it against Arkansas. I could stomach Kentucky, but that triple OT just killed me. Oh what could have been.

2015. We start out 7-0, fournette is running wild looks like a lock for the heisman, we're #2 after beating Florida and I remember calling my buddy and saying we need to start looking up hotels for the national championship. We proceed to lose our next 3 in a row by more than 2 touchdowns each game and fournette dosent even get a heisman invite. End up in the fricking Texas bowl against Texas tech

The following week we give Bama one of their worst upsets in program history(they were on like a 30 game win streak and defending national champs).

I remember watching that game on TV and thinking "Have I entered an alternate reality Universe???"..

Seriously, if we had played them 10000 times in a row.. we would have lost 9999 of them. But on that day...

Discounting the 90's I'm going to have to go with 2008. Watching us go from a NC team to a team with an awful defense run by doofuses and pick 6 lee was horrible. No LSU defense should give up 50 points multiple times in a year.

They also converted an absurd 4th down after Eric Reid let a receiver or tight end get behind him. It was 3RD(in this case 4th) and Chavis at its pinnacle.

Well, the 2012 and 2014 Alabama games were the pinnacle of 3rd and Chavis, and THEN the bowl game against Clemson

2011 - the 1/9/12 ending. We could have been the greatest with that seasons run.

90's we're not all bad because expectations weren't that high.

Every year since 2011 has been a disappointment
