re: Most depressing losses to you as a fan

The first LSU game I ever saw in person was 1982 against Tulane at Tiger Stadium. All that anticipation and excitement. The Tigers were ranked sixth in the nation and headed to the Orange Bowl. A dreary, soggy late November game in which LSU was ahead, only to lose to the Green Wave, who came back to win 31-28. It was Tulane's third victory in four years over the Tigers, and the first win at Tiger Stadium in 34 years. The last game a retiring Vince Gibson coached at Tulane. It was a long, quiet trip back home over the Atchafalaya Basin on I-10 West.

Bama at home and we had them beat until TJ Yeldon took that damn screen pass to the house.
Thanks Chavis
blown assignment by a ME player who had he done what he was supposed to would have been RIGHT where he needed to be to make an instant tackle.

I was more pissed off than depressed from the national championship loss. It was the year after when TJ Yeldon took that screen pass to the house that it just sucked all the air out of the program and all momentum went to Bama. I truly believe we win that single game we prove we are still dominant and pull more recruits and Saban doesn’t have nearly the run he did

Auburn 2006 because it confirmed to me what I already figured about the SEC: they blatantly fix games to benefit their big three teams.
The entire 2009 season reiterated that as the SEC rigged multiple games to get the UF/UA SECCG matchup.

LSU vs Arkansas 2007
LSU vs Florida 2016 (Hurricane Game)
These were the worst 2 for me. The Tulane game in 1982 would round out my top 3.

I would add Georgia 2005 SECCG

That thorough humiliating arse-whipping from MissSt a few yrs back was nauseating-
Some other losses mentioned here were bad but not completely unexpected- but being manhandled like that was demoralizing

Tennessee 2005.
We had evacuated to Tangipahoa for Hurricane Rita, in the middle of nowhere and bored out of our minds and worried our house was destroyed, and someone graciously gave us tickets. I can't remember who.
We go and Clausen runs the same play 400 times and LSU loses. Pissed me off so much I drove back to LC (the parish was "closed" so you had to sneak in) the next day to live on MREs and clean up around the house.
I took it as a personal affront that they made zero defensive adjustments.

LSU vs Tennessee 1959. Cost us back to back Natties.
And of course, 1/9/12
Tulane- 1973, people you knew came out of the woodwork as weenie fans. You never knew.
Tulane- 1981, you can only fully appreciate the humiliation if you resided in NOLA. There were still a lot of greenie fans back then.

Tennessee 2005 - the summary of the Miles era starring clausen as saban.

2014 LSU Alabama - couldn’t score the TD after the Alabama fumble late in the game. I was there.
1979 LSU USC - 9 future NFL defenders on the field for USC. Charles White Heisman trophy winner flips bird to student section. Had the game won but screwed by the refs. I was there.
2018 NFC Championship game Saints vs Rams. Had to throw that in. I was there.
1/9/2012 - glad I wasn’t there. Still can’t get over not giving Jared Lee a shot under center.

LSU @Auburn, 2006 team.
Tom “Bug-eyes” Ritter accepted the money and screwed us on review of a clear cut pass interference. Dude was all over Early Doucet’s legs before the ball got close.
2006 was a championship year had that call not been a big F-job by Ritter and the SEC refs-state of Alabama being in bed together.
We coulda beat anybody in 2006.

Yes, Miles should have been fired on 1/10/12.

First round exit of the tourney against NC State. Complete meltdown in the final minutes.

Also, the last final four team we had.
Big Baby spent more time laying on the court than he did standing up. He forgot how to use his legs or something.
Lights were too bright on that big stage against UCLA. Made me sick to watch after the year we had. I thought we would finally get to see our mens team hang a championship banner.
