Most Accomplished LSU Athlete of All Time

If we are taking their pro careers into account then Jim Taylor should be on the list too.

If Skenes continues on the trajectory his career has started on then he will likely be the answer but right now Shaq and Pistol are hard to beat.

Agree with all the great athletes listed in these posts. Would be remiss not to mention Kevin Faulk.

SEC all time leader in all-purpose yards (6,833)

3x Super Bowl Champion

Accomplished in their sport? It’s Mondo and not remotely close.

Also, Andrew Whitworth at least belongs in the discussion. Natty, Super Bowl, 4x Pro Bowler, and I believe he has the highest career earnings of any LSU alumnus in the NFL (until Burrow).

There was a point in his Bengal years that he went almost 2 seasons without giving up a sack and didnt make the pro bowl. That was what playing in Cincinnati did back then...pre-Burrow, so Whitworth should have made several more.

Mondo Duplantis
I get why he's doing it but it's not really that impressive when he just keeps breaking his own record slightly for the paycheck

Idgaf what anyone says pole vaulting is not snd never will be in the same realm of athletic ability as being professional baseball, basketball of football player

There's probably 20-50 guys in the NFL/NBA that you could train to pole vault at the highest level because their athleticism is so insane. In no world ever would Mondo be able to step foot on an NFl field or NBA court. He's not big enough, strong enough or fast enough. You know the things we base athleticism off of

I agree that pole vaulting doesn't bring thoughts of supreme athleticism but that is not what the OP said. He said accomplised and Mondo is that. 22 golds and a world record holder. I don't know of any other LSU athlete that is a world record holder much less 20+ championships.

Considering their pro careers and longevity it's gotta be Shaq, especially if you consider his impact off the court.

If Skenes can stay healthy he'll blow Bregman, Nola, and the old heads out of the water.

I'm less certain about Burrow than I was a couple years ago. He's got a ways to go to surpass Van Buren, Taylor, and Tittle. Needs at least one SB and one MVP which is touch with that shite franchise. Honestly, Jayden has as good of a chance. It just depends what you put around them.

He definitely has the most pro rings!

Rings, there’s a former LSU Tiger that could put a Championship ring on every finger, an still have to hold a few in his hand. 14 to be exact. He’s in the LA HOF.

If you are talking College career then its Maravich... and its not even close ..

His scoring accomplishments were without the 3 point line and (if I recall correctly) within a 2 year period.

can't forget Bob Pettit

led LSU to its first Final Four
Rookie of the Year in NBA
Two-time league MVP (2 more 2nd place finishes)
Was all-time leading scorer in NBA history when he retired
was 2nd all-time in Rebounds in NBA history (still top 3).
NBA hall of fame

In '22 he was selected to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team, becoming just one of 4 players to be selected to every NBA Anniversary Team.

Was the first NBA player to score 20,000 points

Only player (retired) in NBA history to average 20+ points in every season(min. of 3) he played. (Jordan finished exactly at 20 his final season)

16.2 rebounds a game is only bested by Wilt and Russell.

It's hard to compare someone from 40 years ago to recent success stories like Burrow or Skenes. All of the people listed in the first few posts are deserving of this. Can't argue against any one of those listed.

129 HRs, 750 RBIs, one finish in the top 10 for MVP that's not going to sniff Cooperstown when you have guys with multiple MVPs not in.
