It's stupefying how they think Jimbo is suddenly going to walk. I hated the O hire and especially how Alleva handled it, but I love what O's doing right now. Getting some of that Saints influence on the offense (finally tapping that resource), creating a pipeline for those huge Samoan/islander boys, recruiting the daylights out of Cali, stocking the trenches...the future looks very bright. I'm all in for O.

Wow dude, I guess I don’t! But I like how you left out the explanation, opting instead to go off on some rant that has zero context.

Sharp is their chancellor. They hold him in about as high regard as we do F. King.

That being said, it would also require getting rid of Coach O, a native favorite. They might throw him under the bus with all these NCAA allegations. But if I were jimbo and I see a university throwing a loyal beloved coach to the wolves, that's a yuge red flag.

Sorry, I'm just sick of hearing from southerners about how "we can pull Peterson." It's not happening. His kid has cancer and his only landing spots are in Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles. Atlanta and Houston would be the only landing spots for him on this side of the country but he is a PNW guy through and through. There are no SEC schools that have access directly to the hospitals on a whims notice. Arkansas said they could land him. A&M thought they could land him. I don't want our fans to think that we can because of our AD's connections.

Nah... Jimbo has a natty and is a southern guy. Peterson doesn’t have the relationships established in TX and LA like Jimbo does.

Why do people assume LSU is gunning for Jimbo?

quote:

I don't mean for this to be an argument about which coach is better, but just looking at the situation... Coach O won 9 games his first year at LSU. Jimbo won 9 games his first year at A&M. Last year, while Jimbo was winning those 9 games, Coach O won 10. On paper the recruiting classes they brought in last year are roughly equal. Why does everyone think it's so likely that LSU wants to pay Coach O's buyout, then pay whatever it takes to moneywhip Jimbo away from his already massive moneywhip contract at A&M, all so they can have a different coach who so far has not meaningfully outperformed the coach they already have in the same division? Plus, is Coach O not popular at LSU? The guy seems like he was born to be the mascot for that place, are they that eager to get rid of him? If A&M makes a big leap forward next year and LSU regresses, then maybe that changes the situation, but that's a couple of fairly significant ifs, and if that happens it also gives Jimbo a lot more incentive to stay in a situation that appears to be working out. #sipbutnottrolling

Not quite. His hashtag said "sip", which means he's a longhorn.

This one may be the best...

This. Has LSU ever given a coach an extension and a huge raise after a 7-5 season where they lost 4 or the last five games and got curbstomped in a bowl? Because we have. Texas A&M is easy money. LSU actually has expectations.

You can spot the Aggies who are unfamiliar with tRant.

And as an achieving athletic department, LSU is light years ahead of us as far as accomplishments. LSU has multiple nattys in baseball and football in recent decades, and has been to multiple final fours. A&M hasn't sniffed any of that on the men's side since a pre-WWII title.
