The way our infielders throw to first has nearly gotten him flattened by batters running out grounders. Thankfully he's avoided a train wreck, but it's been close. These infielders need clean it up before they get him killed out there.

I was thinking the same thing

Then Hill goes up there and fires a goddamned fastball at him. I wish they'd have had the gun on that because Hill didn't have to worry about hitting a strike zone and reached back and absolutely LAUNCHED it.

Particularly our third basemen can't seem to make decent throws. We all know how the Hellmers experiment went, but now Thompson isn't looking much better defensively, and only thanks to Morgan has he not committed three or four errors. He has ugly throwing mechanics. His feet look almost like they're behind him and then he just kind of throws a shot put to first. He's got to get his footwork straightened out and throw a little less like a 5th grader.
Morgan played the most impactful game, defensively, that I believe I've ever seen by a first baseman. It'll be forgotten in the long run, because it wasn't a high stakes game against a marquee opponent, but it was really impressive.

Compare Morgan’s plays vs beloso last year. Huge improvement

The guy's footwork is like a mountain goat. He's knows exactly where he is no matter the throw. He's not gonna get hurt.
