hell since 98, I'd put 2001,2003,2004,2005,2006,2007, and maybe even 2000 and 20002 LSU over 1998 Tulane....Last year's team maybe could have done it if they actually showed up.

I agree that talent-wise we do not compare. And yes, our program is very poor.
However, remember that our 2007 Tulane team played 2007 LSU to a first-half stalemate. I think in a one-game situation, the 1998 team could have competed with your 2007 team. That's all I'm saying.
You could have easily dismissed 2008 Utah or 2006 Boise State in the same fashion, but look what those teams accomplished when given a chance to compete on the big BCS stage.
