re: More impressive first year coaching job? Wade 2017 or Miles 2005

I’m with you. All miles had to do was stick with his game plan in the second half. I was there at the game, in college at the time. Yes it was a difficult time, but he had a motivated team and stadium 75% filled with people wanting nothing more than to see an LSU win.
To the people bashing you for this, Miles just pulled a win out of his arse at Arizona State. Had he lost that game, yeah sure, I’d be forgiving given those circumstances.
But the Tennessee game a week later, we were up 21-0 at halftime. Miles, in typical Miles fashion, let up in the second half after pummeling them in the first half. Fulmer benched his all-conference qb to put in former LSU benchwarmer Rickey Clausen who lead the comeback and overtime victory for the Vols.

Etched in the memory of every Tiger fan forever.

you wanted fire a coach that had 3 top 5 finishes in the last 4 years, 2 west titles in 4 years, and a national title?

We had come off of an 8-3 season with losses to Miami(arse whipping) then Ole Miss and Bama.. all three were ranked teams.
So in ‘69 we were not expected to be great, just solid like all of Coach Macs teams. Our schedule was not that difficult and after we absolutely curb stomped Miami 30-10, people took notice. Keep in mind talhatbduring those days because of segregation, the southern teams were not looked on facodiably by the National media. Yes we would have great teams with a ton of competition, the AP and UPi vote was all there really was and so if you’re not ranked early and make it all the way through without blemish winning a National Championship with a loss was nearly impossible.
So we slid through our schedule until that freaking Ole Miss game. We lost by 3.
The defense was very good, but we just blew it against that a-hole in Oxford.
Pissed me off...

He is light years a smarter and better coach then ole Les
Let's see how it goes when his class contributes the next few years.
Amazing how tRant is enamored with unproven individuals over actual successful results.

figured I get a rise out of you.
I'm (was) at every home game. Will be bumming for tix this year if I go to any games. Gave up all the tix/perks until Alleva and O are gone.
Should have done it with Miles but held off until now.

Miles is so great, but not a single other school want to touch that POS.
He followed the greatest coach in College Football Period Full stop.
I hope he gets another job soon, he will be very average, and I will be curious to hear excuses as to how your great coach isn't winning 10 games and titles every few years.

I just don't understand the thought process behind this point of view.
Miles was great here. Not debatable, end of discussion.
I don't see people coming on here bashing Dietzel or his success here, based on the fact that he moved on to Army and South Carolina and was not winning to the same level. Nobody is discrediting the '58 team due to that reasoning.
What I find the most confusing, to be honest, is the ones who are the most anti-Miles, seem also to be the most pro-Orgeron, and yet the standards are not the same. The things they blast Miles for, Orgeron has done too, but it's excused for him.

I cant forgive Miles for letting Tenn come back and beat us on the hottest most miserable game attended on a monday night no less.
The campus had been turned into a MASH unit and the athletic facilities into a morgue. Half of the state was in total disarray after two hurricanes. Many of the players were volunteering to assist in the post hurricane relief efforts on campus while trying to prepare for the game. Playing on sheer adrenaline the team had a great first half . By the second half they were exhausted and emotionally spent. But, yeah lets shite on the new coach and his staff for losing the game. The score board may have said otherwise but here were a lot of winners wearing purple and gold that night giving this state a big step forward to normalcy.

I give Miles credit for recruiting, We never won because of his X and O knowledge. His ability to take advantage of the other team's weakness is the worst I have seen from a college coach. He knows one thing overpower the man in front of you. I assume You speak of O interference in the Offense and Miles getting slammed for the same thing. Miles did it all the time, O did it to simplify the offense because we had 10 penalties a game and wanted to make it easier for young linemen. It was not the same at all.
