Exception for the perfect storm at the end of 07. Miles was an eyelash away from having the college program with the most NFL talent and NEVER winning a National Championship.

Nail and Hammer.
Completely erased by the greatest season I’ve seen in my lifetime in 2011. I’m 68. Been a fan since the 50’s. The only other teams I recall were ‘58, 69 and ‘03 being close to what we were in 2011. That was Miles players, his program and his coaches.
In ‘69, we gave up 91 points in 10 games. FREAKING OLE PISS. 2011 gave up 99 in 10. 1969’s team had 2 “cupcakes” in Rice and TAMU. Beat 8 ranked teams that year.

I wanted him fired after 2008...

So WHAT DID happen????

Please tell us... Since you have SO MUCH INSIDE information on Miles tenure here.
Krags got Parks disease and Studs took over.
It wasn't an Orgeron type promotion as Studs came up under Meyer and was a very successful OC at BGU for 4 years with 2 or 3 nat ranked top 5 offenses after UM went to Utes.
Studs earned his stripes.

Rantards despised him and made fat jokes, but he's back with Meyer again, prolly making jokes about LSU admin along with the rest of CFB.

Wades first season isn’t over yet. Miles first year was very good aside from the Tennessee game.

I'm actually amazed people hold Tennessee game against him considering everything that happened. Those players were tired as their schedule was off. I mean hell, JR had what 8-12 family members staying with him in his apartment? Others were working in the community, dealing with family issues, etc...

For normal people it was an exhausting period.... Yet LSU players (more specifically Miles) are apparently immune to that exhaustion.

Tulane,Kentucky ,Baylor,Miami, and Miss State were ranked that year?

They were great in 1969,but only Auburn and Ole Miss finished the season ranked that year.Alabama was ranked for a short period early that season .Not 8.

Its wade. I just hate that this will be an obvious shite on miles thread. We did play in the sec title game that year with a team that had to deal with katrina virtually all season.

They hold it against him because he blew a huge 4th quarter lead to a team who had our ex 4th string QB at the helm. We didn’t make a single first down in the second half of the game until the Hail Mary at the end of regulation. The game was moved to accommodate our situation the hurricane wasn’t the reason we lost bad coaching was.

Nope, totally Miles fault

damn some of you just look for a reason to blame Miles for things..... Might as well blame him for the hurricanes, the floods, and the heat as well

In fact that’s the exact opposite of what’s going on here. Any other coach gets blame for losing that game especially the way it was lost but Miles apologist like you believe he is above any criticism. He had the most talented Roster in LSU history and blew a 17 point 4th quarter lead to a 5-6 Tennessee team. We couldn’t stop a QB who wasn’t good enough to get on the field at LSU or throw a ball 40 yards while not gaining a single first down in the second half. You can makeup all the excuses in the world but anyone with sense looking at it objectively knows coaching cost us that game and that any other coach in school history would catch hell for it. What’s even more telling of your bias is that you ignored that I said it was a very good season for Miles and didn’t say anything about being blown out in the SEC champ game because I know going undefeated or bashing a coach over 1 loss is ridiculous. You’re the one with bias here buddy and it’s really obvious.

Facts usually do illicit an emotional response from the Miles > LSU crowd.

Name another LSU team that had the number 1 overall pick in the NFL draft, the number 3 pick the number 5 pick the number 6 pick, 4 other first round picks and 2 later round picks that have made multiple All Pro teams. And that’s just the higher level picks and upper class guys. Go ahead and name another LSU roster that had this much talent all playing together, I’ll wait....

All of those guys were AT LEAST two full seasons from being drafted other than Addai, who went 30th.

So how about the very next year, 2006, when all of those guys were a full year older and more experienced?

Well we did improve, finishing the 06 season #3 after finishing #5 in 05.

But Auburn and Florida also improved substantially as well.

ETA: Nice edit Always enjoy these little pow wows Aerys
