Careful, you're getting dangerously close to saying O is a garbage coach and is only propped up by the players he recruits.

wtf are you talking about?

On the road and most of those games prior to the 80's...how does that relate to the program now?

Not sure what this means. I give all LSU coaches a fair shake.

ETA: And how did our offense get so much better with most of the same players if we're only as good as the players we have?

That’s why Mallevto was so successful I suppose.

Now you answer my question...what teams have more defensive talent than LSU?

When? This year? Last? Over time? Because those are all different answers. I know you think if LSU has the 3rd most talent that they should have the #3 defense but the world doesn’t work that way. Again the “worst” year for Aranda at LSU we were 26th in ppg and ypg

You want to compare coaches with no talent to a coach with elite defensive talent across the field...or do you believe we don't have one of the top teams in terms of defensive talent in the nation...please list the teams that have more talent than LSU

Bama, Clemson, Auburn, A&M, Georgia, are all pretty equal in talent and every fricking one of them have had games where the opposing team racked up points and yardage against them. But don’t let facts stand in your way.

not to mention Ohio State.

Realsiticall the people i feel are better defensive minds than Dave Aranda are either 1. Head Coaches or 2. unavailable.

Venables isn't making a lateral move.

People like to use the UCF game as against DA, but if you look at who we were missing, and how the defense played, it showed how good he was.

We were missing
Fehoko
Chaisson
Ed Alexander
Fulton
Greedy
Delpit after the 2nd quarter
Phillips for the first half.

And we gave up basically 22 points if you don't count the pick 6 (which you shouldn't) and the FG that they got when we muffed the punt in field goal range (we held them to 0 yards on 3 plays)

You find it pathetic that people like a good coach?

Venables career numbers aren’t as good as Arandas. They were posted after the national title game which was the last time the anti-Aranda tards were out with their pitchforks.

Aranda has had some of the best scoring defenses. He’s always be susceptible to the power run game / power spread when the qb is like a Nick Fitzgerald or a Sam E. Look Sam can throw. Our Dbs aren’t chopped liver I think he deserves a ton of credit. We have NFL talent all across the D. there are issues with conditioning but that I think is being over hyped. The Dline didn’t attack like tney said all off season because of Sams running. But I don’t think tney expected him to pass with that kinda precision. The D will get better as the young bucks get better. Obviously with the offense we will need 17-18 guys play weekly on D.

Nope. But I don’t think Venables is better than Aranda. I think they are pretty equal.

Sure but he also took over a really bad Clemson Defense they have steadily improved

2018 #1
2017 #2
2016 #10
2015 #24
2014 #3
2013 #24
2012 #46

i don't think you can deny thats a damn good job.

BUT even if he is better, he isn't available.

Why would you think that was a dig at Venables? He’s great, I’m just saying Arandas numbers are better so why are people asking who els out there could we get that would be better. The 2011 defense gave up more yards to a lesser team and nobody was talking about firing Chief after that game. The knee jerk reactions here are getting ridiculous.

Saying he's not worth what he's making makes you a fool, plain and simple.

ETA - I find it fascinating you have a problem with Aranda and Will Wade, arguably the best two coaches at LSU the past year, but you've got a fricking hard on for Orgeron.

yeah, anyone saying shite about ARanda is a lunatic... He's worth every damn penny... and he should get first crack at the LSU job if/when it opens... He has one game where they were gassed and we play a contain (Cage Rush) and everyone goes ape shite... dude is still top D-Coordiantor in the country... he will adjust as the offense goes...

and people forget texas scored once in the first half...

its mindboggling how someone would try to run that dude..

guess that says it all if he doesnt like Will Wade... he bascially saved LSU basketball

In Aranda's last 3 real games, teams have averaged 33 points on our D.

Texas--38
A&M---31---OT points not counted
UCF---32

We are blaming Aranda and his defense for UCFs 90 yard interception return for TD????

there it is this is all you need to say this is the motivation behind all the Aranda criticisms

Of course it is. The Aranda criticism is almost universally from big time Orgeron guys who are, for whatever reason, jealous of Aranda's popularity.

Aranda is certainly not above any criticism at times, but he's the best coach on this staff.

It’s funny you say that because the anti-Aranda movement started the week that Orgeron began demanding an extension. When a portion of the Rant explained that there was no need to rush and Orgeron hadn’t earned it yet the Aranda hate began and these fans started going back through the season looking for any reason to hang every loss on him. It’s pathetic.

For me it is not so much the numbers because that is always circumstantial, it is how often does he get the ball back for the offense and do we get the ball back for the offense in critical moments. The answer often has been not often and this is mainly why I am critical of him.

Though of course with all the analyst help and team talent I think he can get this right, bring us a championship, and quiet all doubts.
