I think we were counting on turnovers, for him to make a mistake. He played flawlessly. But yes, his WR's did have a lot of opportunity.

The narrative is Texas has an elite offense....LSU finished 2018 with a better offense than Texas. Also Texas had 1 rb. It is amazing how they defend giving up 31 points in a half.

What’s amazing is how eager you are to shite on the defensive players and staff after a road win against a top-10 team.

Sometimes you have to look as much at what didn’t happen as what did. They thought SE could escape the blitz and run for 150+, and they were probably right.

I would certainly hope not considering he never ran for more than 72 yards last season.

you're not seriously trying to compare the offense from different years, right?

Pretty sure we'll all agree that LSU's offense is better this year than last year. Who says UT's isn't as well?

What's more amazing is some of the blazing hot takes yall are making in trying to poo poo Aranda.

ETA: LSU also finished behind UT in total offense last years, so not sure what metric you're using.

Texas DID have an elite offense last week. Sometimes guys play the game of their life.

Not everything averages out perfectly over the course of a year.

If UT plays Oklahoma like they did us, they will probably beat them.

I'm not defending it. We just picked the wrong strategy and the QB played flawlessly.

The issue is that everyone here would have done the same exact thing though.

Do you know that they aren’t?

Has nothing to do with anything.

Also Texas had 1 rb.

This is probably why they only rushed for 121 yards at less than 3.5 per carry.

Has anyone actually defended it? Saying Ehlinger beat LSU’s defense isn’t defense of it. We’re literally saying they got beat.

Offenses in the Sec have changed.

Our offense has struggled which puts more pressure on the D.

We win more than we lose. Aranda is good. O had something to do with the defensive scheme. It was built on the premise to not let the Texas QB beat you with the run and force him to throw the football.

Are we?
Last year we had the hardest schedule in FBS for a long time up until the end of the season. It was part of the huge "how good are we?" debate that went on all year. The Bama game was embarrassing, as it always is for some reason. But we played better than Bama did against Georgia and Bama gets to hand pick their DCs and players.

We play top 10 teams outside of conference every year. We play Florida, a top 10 team, every year. We play a hard schedule. So I'm not buying this "Aranda is not doing good enough" garbage right after he goes against a guy who has destroyed Bama and Georgia in the past (Herman). The negative Aranda people picked the wrong time to come out of their cave.

they had a terrible gameplan...we gave up 31 points. How can you say that was a good scheme?

The difference with me being critical of DA and how the defense performed is I don't want him replaced. I want him to be more aggressive. I think the disconnect is when yall are critical of O and SE yall also wanted them fired. Quit being sensitive bitches. DA wasn't happy with his defense the other night.

I keep forgetting that this game played on Sept 7, 2019 was against the 2018 team

who is defending that? people are defending the DC against a bunch of ninnies that are using 20/20 hindsight, blaming "scheme" all because a team had a great offensive half.

it was a bad half, nothing more. Get back to me after the season and see where we are ranked. If its in the 40s-50s then we can agree it was bad.

How would you have played it?

The defense did well in the first half. No one expected Ehlinger to throw for 400 yards.

Your reaction if he blitzes on a 3rd and long and gives up a big play is going to be amusing.

Why? It worked. It required UT to have a near perfect half of offensive football just to stay in the game.
quote:

How can you say that was a good scheme?

Because it took away their strength and forced UT to be flawless. Sometimes a top 10 team is going to play like one.

Almost no one has wanted O fired for two years. And E on his own was not a good OC, so much so that Brady was brought in to effectively run things. So what point are you trying to make?

You must have hated the second to last series Texas had in the first half...remind me of what happened?

Because the scheme put our defensive players in a position to succeed constantly? We have no idea what the result would have been had we been more aggressive with the rush. All we know is that we contained the highly mobile QB, took away the big downfield plays, and gave up space underneath in doing so. Had we been able to make a tackle in the second half, the game wouldn’t have been close.

I wouldn't have allowed Ehlinger to sit in the pocket and survey the field for 5-6 seconds.

O would have been fired if not for Aranda.

E is basically on his way out. We hired someone else to install an offense.
