So you would’ve sent the blitz leaving the backfield open, so he could escape the blitz on the edge and run for TDs instead.

Gotcha.

The scheme was definitely based on believing our front would be getting more pressure than they did. I think we all were surprised by that not happening.

We sent Chaisson in EVERY play and they picked it up EVERY time. I was exclusively watching him. They even tried to move him around pre and post snap. They picked it up.

Some people forget that part of offensive gameplanning is picking up pressure, and Herman is a master at it. Their QB also got rid of the ball quick.

you are defending an LSU defense that gave up 31 points in one half...think about that

Absolutely. Their O line is legit, and our defensive front 4 is good but doesn’t have a true Glen Dorsey-type disruptor.

That and our DBs not being able to take advantage of being in good positions all night. We aren't going to see another game like this.

“LSU has a better offense than Texas in 2018”

LSU: 402.1 yards per game including a 7OT game
Texas: 421.0 yards per game

“Texas only had 1 runningback”

Texas rushing stats vs LSU
Roschon Johnson 7 carries 32 yards
Keaontay Ingram 10 carries 29 yards
Devin Duvernay 1 carry 0 yards

I’ve seen you post a lot in this thread. I haven’t seen anything you’ve posted that was actually true.

O admitted we were playing containment most of the night. Yes he was held over and over. When we did stunt or bring a lb we were very effective.

Exactly, and Aranda matched it with 4th and 17 against TAM last year with seconds left on the clock. I am not saying he should be replaced, his defensive results don't justify calling him the best DC as some do. Let's hope he does something about it before he loses a big game because of it.

I’m defending a defensive game plan that stopped SE’s run threat AND put our DBs within inches of the ball twice that would’ve made it a 45-24 final, yes.

His inability to make one defensive stop when the game is on the line is mind-boggling.

I'm sorry, but didn't LSU win the game?
Did the Defense not make not one but two goal line stops against UT?

I agree but our effectiveness was limited because Ehlinger was very good at avoiding the rush.

If LSU can’t get at least moderate pressure with 4 then scheme isn’t going to solve much.

You can’t blitz on every play.

LSU averaged more points and finished 37th while Texas finished 48th....and Texas played against Big 12 defenses while we played at least 6 top 25 defenses.

they had 1 healthey rb...did you not watch the game and see that their 3rd string rb had to get carries?

he was their 3rd string QB until a few weeks ago and was by far the best RB they put on the field.

Who has said we should. It's called mixing it up and not allowing the qb to be comfortable.
