He can skip whatever height is current. Now they're going by increments of 5cm* which is almost 2 inches.

I'd expect him to maybe come back in at 5.9m or 6m.

He also makes a lot more money in Sweden than he would make in the US, and there he is treated like a rock star. Our track stars don't make near the money that they do in Europe.

Please change 5mm to 5cm (aka 50mm)

Doesn't he get a bonus every time he breaks the WR, so he breaks it by like a centimeter each time?

Exactly. He could have jumped 6 inches higher two years ago, but is easing it up for that exact reason.

Why does he rep Sweden? Was he born there? Did he spend formative years there?

Was a big part of his decision back in 2015. Do you have other info?

He made the change because the US only depends on the olympic trials to determine the team and sweden goes off world ranking (or something like that). Which means a bad day at the trials, or a twisted ankle right before and it would be over.

One of his parents is from there. But he represents Sweden because he is 100% guaranteed a spot on the Olympic team. In the US he would have to compete and earn that spot, which is pretty ridiculous when he is clearly the best. If he has an off day, or something goes wrong when he's competing to make the USA team then the Olympics are over for him before they begin. Why take that risk when you don't have to?

It's not because his dad is a coach.

I want to point this out as the most ridiculous statement in two threads

Zlatan has 65 million followers on instagram

Mondo has 612 thousand

Lol at you thinking those followers are all Swedish.

Zlatan is way more popular across the world... not in Sweden though, especially not now.

This is correct. His Dad missed the Olympics because he had one bad day.

I didn’t want to have to do this to you, but you asked for it

For reference Trols is a ping pong player

Saying mondo is more popular currently than Zlatan is Sweden is honestly batshit crazy man. Sweden is very consistent with America in terms of they really don’t care about track and field neither except every 4 years

#2 ranked vaulter is now out after failing to get 5.95m. Mondo, Kendricks, and Karalis have secured a medal position.

Karalis secures bronze. If Kendricks doesn't clear 6m on this last attempt, Mondo wins.
