When he was 19 and trying to qualify for the 2020 olympics, yes it matters. He was only in the top ten then.

I am good friends with Mondo & Desire’ Inglander. I’ll text them and let him know how you feel.
Thanks. Tell mondo. I want him to know it was me.

I heard LSU at least 5 times during the broadcast...

well frick you too! It's pretty common for atheletes... it's not like the USA is hurting for medals. GEAUX MONDO

People like him can do what they want. Doesn’t mean I have to hope they win because of some LSU connection.
Especially since they reap the benefits of training here.

MILLIONS more and it's not even close
T&F is the 2nd most popular sport in Europe behind soccer.
MONDO is the most popular athlete (in Europe / Sweden) right now for marketing and endorsements. His image is posted everywhere earning him $$$$

Josh Smith
Born Here
Raised Here
Trained Here
Schooled Here
Leaves to go play for the Texas Rangers.
Not Josh's fault there's not an MLB team in New Orleans just like it's not Mondo's fault that the USTAF is a bunch of pikers compared to the Swedish Olympic Committee.

I don't understand how people can vehemently hate him just because he doesn't wear USA across his chest.
Because he is the GOAT at his craft. If he was just a random pole vaulter no one would care. He is winning Golds that should count for the USA.

What I would be interested in seeing is a venn diagram of the people posters on this board that hate him and the posters on this board that celebrated the Jan. 6 Capital riots.
You know there is some overlap there and would be interested to hear the mental gymnastics on why Mondo repping Sweden is bad but vandalizing the US Capital is ok.
This is a strange left turn but I bet you are correct that people on the right have more national pride than those on the left. I am not saying that storming the capitol was good or about national pride, I am saying that your comparison links the right to national pride.

Not to mention Mondo spends most of the year in Sweden training.

This is a very dumb analogy. Josh Smith has no control over who drafts him and lie you said, Louisiana doesn't have a team. Mondo does have a choice and chose to compete elsewhere. Not saying he is wrong for that choice but you anology doesn't make any sense.

32 current & former LSU athletes competing in the Olympics & only 8 of them on Team USA

There are like 160 Olympians from the SEC in Track & Field alone.
A lot of different countries athletes get the benefit of training in the US.

LSU athlete succeeding. Good for LSU.
There are dozens and dozens of athletes at the Olympics that are from the US or attend US universities that are repping other countries. And it is happening to other countries as well.
France missed out on a gold medal in gymnastics because they got a bug up their butt about a certain gym and trainer. So the gymnast represented Algeria and won gold on bars. But instead of crying about it, the French audience at Bercy Arena cheered their hearts out for her.
