Out of state kid. Probably drawing a scholarship. Maybe even some NIL.
Have to use those assets on players that are more proven and reliable contributors than those who have shown little production in two years.

People talk to much about NIL & such
But the bottom line is players want to play. They want to be treated fairly. They want opportunities.

He was on academic scholarships…….he’s extremely smart. Probably wasn’t much money tied to him at all.

I just think these things usually work out well for both parties. If Jay really wanted to keep him, my opinion is he would be staying at LSU.
Divesting in non-contributors, and those non-contributors wanting to go somewhere where they can contribute makes for a good mutual parting

My brother was a pitcher and I never forget what he told me long ago… you go where you can get on the mound.
It’s that simple.

I get why he may be frustrated, but man you throwing a 100mph doesn’t matter if it’s in the dirt & they aren’t swinging at it.

he is going to be a JR
it depends on what role he wants.
he likely isn’t being promised a starting role, and most likely would end up being a leverage guy where he is in his progression.

He will still be in the SEC. If next year doesn’t pan out, he will have his degree from a pretty good school.

He threw 17.2 innings all season long and mostly in low leverage situations or if it was a higher leverage situation it was for an out or just a few batters sometimes. The staff just didnt trust him basically and he probably wants to go somewhere he'll pitch more meaningful innings to him. It's his draft year so makes sense.
He might continue to develop and be better, but it's his decision if he wants to guarantee himself more playing time. There's no guarantees here.
Jay makes no qualms he can find someone better than you.

He nor his family to my knowledge reads the rant.

Where he’s going…. There’s a long run of great pitchers. If he can refine his pitches, he’s going there.

That’s exactly right. He turned down a guarantee starting role and NIL money to go to a place proven to send pitchers to the draft. He’s going where he feels most comfortable not named LSU. The kid has had to work for everything. He didn’t grow up a natural. He’s a worker and expect big things next year.

Stock? Stock for what? Major’s? Hahahahahaha
What is the list on tiger pitchers in majors right now?
Last 10 -20 years?
Enjoy your time as a kid, young man. You’ve been blessed to make it this far, but expecting even more lightning strikes? Nah, bruh.

I hear he is looking at Southern Miss where he will almost certainly be a starter. He is from Mt. Olive.

The school he’s going to has more pitchers on opening day rosters than lsu. Including skenes. Yes if he’s got the stuff he will make it.

I mean the kid runs it up to high 90s, he's got draft stock for sure and the more he pitches the more he'll get noticed. Thats what this is all about.
What happens years from now in terms of MLB is meaningless, it's about getting the most money he can for the draft a year from now.

He was given chances late and will have a bigger role. I don’t understand it.
He was in line for a stopper role at LSU, IMO. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee of it. If he struggled again with control in that larger role, he'd end up not getting nearly the innings he thinks he needs.
If he goes to a smaller school, he's almost certainly getting innings. And, I suspect that's what he's looking for.
If he goes to a different larger school,, I think he's facing the same risk as if he were to stay at LSU. I would agree that wouldn't make sense on paper.
I wish he was staying. But, I get doing what you think is in your best interest.
