Let's get this out of the way first. Yes. I think Bama would have beaten LSU

quote:

You think Golden had a PG to effectively replace Clayton if he had been lost for the season?

I think he would have changed the way the offense operated to fit the strength of his roster. He would not have forced a lesser backup to be Clayton. Florida's PG play has been hasn't been great this year. In fact, CBS named BOTH Fland and Lee as there 5 biggest transfer "misses". Yet, Florida sits a top the SEC and his the highest rated team in the league. Different players. Slightly different style of play for this team. Same results.

You can't apples to apples replace those guys. But a coach can change his approach to fit the roster. A few years ago Duke switch to a zone defense, something K never played. Why? Because it was the best thing for that particularly roster. Duke was a No. 1 seed.

Regardless, there is a difference between a slight/moderate drop-off from losing a key player, and the whole season totally collapsing.

quote:

\Yes, if the ENTIRE foundation of what you want to do rests on having a top tier PG and virtually any team who loses a player of the caliber of Dedan Thomas would be tremendopusly affected. Jalen Reece is about as good as you can exzpect and he has had some good moments and shows a lot of promkise, but he does not have three years experience. Combine that with the loss of a skilled veteran inside player for the second yeart in a row and this team has done an amazing job in being competitive in most league games .

Other teams have lost key players this year. Yet they have found away to stay afloat. If the ENTIRE success rested on the shoulders of one player, then that is a poorly constructed roster. Nonetheless, Thomas DID play against Texas Tech (and LSU got blown out). He also averaged 11/4 in 3 SEC games...in which LSU lost all three. So the whole notion that LSU would have been some great team but for the fact Thomas was injured seems is suspect.

quote:

Even the league a-hole Nate Oats acknowledgted it.

Oats isn't going to openly say "McMahon sucks and I'm really glad that if we had to go on the road after a 20T slugfest I'm glad is was against McMahon at LSU"...but that is what he's thinking. Oats gets in spats with HCs he knows are good. He's not going to dump on the league doormat...mostly out of pity.

But I guess continue on believing that in hypothetical perfect world MM is 52-16 at LSU and Circle K doesn't render you catatonic with rage.

I didn't claim that but the record would likely be closer to .500 and they would be in t e middle of the league with Thomas and Reed.

Its a hell of a lot easier to adjust to circumstances with Duke's roster than a program trying to rebuild from the situation McMahon inherited and now has to compete with two of his best players sidelined.

LSU had BAMA on the ropes and Holloway made some big plays which was the difference, same with Acuff at Arkansas when Thomas played. Thomas was not at full strength then and he got hurt again in the last game he played.

Probably best to not even bother with him. You laid out a beautiful supporting argument regarding Texas Tech but he’s still putting his fingers in his ears, yelling “La La La!” and making the argument that DJ is prime Chris Paul.

Not surprisingly, he’s missing the big picture. He doesn’t get it and probably never will.

There’s been a LOT of small steps and small pieces. Going to take years for said juggernaut to come to fruition.

Once again Jennifer, you have no clue how much of a BITCH you sound like rushing to the defense of this LOSER. Are you McMahon himself?? A family member? You're worse than ching chong, and I NEVER thought I'd see that.

Do you have ANY self respect???

Alt, LOW IQ individuals like tigersb are incapable of "reading the room" or "between the lines".

OF MOTHERFLUCKING COURSE Oates is talking up this LOSER we have now. He wants to maintain the easy 1-3 wins he has per year by keeping him around.

And of course he gets into it with Wade, because he views him as a threat.

This dipshit has ZERO idea on how the resl world works.

Three of the four fans said they’re unsatisfied with the season because of the consistent losing.

Say what? WTF is there to be satisfied with? MM’s ability to consistently look like an npc drone?
I thought for sure the fourth fan who didn’t say they’re unsatisfied would be a woman.
But nope it was a homosexual named Thibodeaux vomiting, “I love McMahon. He's such a great guy” from his mouth like that matters more than winning.

McMahon is awful at developing contingency plans. In his second season, Jalen Cook was ruled ineligible for the first several games. Yet, McMahon did not have a backup PG on the roster. Big oversight. I knew he didn’t have what it takes then.

It was obvious his first season that he wasn’t a good coach. He has a bland, basic system with practically zero alterations. Basic is actually being nice because a basic offense usually has at least a few wrinkles that include more than ONE ball screen. For everyone who says “his system requires a good/elite PG,” yeah no shite you need someone who can create an offense for him since he can’t.
I’m not exaggerating when I say we ran more offensive sets in 7th grade than his college level teams at lsu.

I’ve actually tried to think of just ONE time where I saw him make an in game adjustment and I can’t remember one. I quit watching halfway through last year and again after a few games this year when I saw the same bs on the court. Zero coaching aptitude.

And defensive coaching isn’t any better. For just one example look at how many teams have their best 3 point percentage when they play us. Probably every team we played had their best night against us. And he makes zero adjustments to address it. Just trot out the same bs scheme.
It’s got to be infuriating for the players because they know basketball obviously and had to have had more plays in their little league team offenses. How does he even get these players to play for him? Have they not watched any of his teams at lsu?

Without a doubt they would have.

You need to change your name to not have bb in it as you obviously don’t know anything about basketball.
Or maybe the bb is for baseball. I hope so as I feel bad for people who go to life so confident in their knowledge of a subject when in actuality they have none

He was in this thread before you were douche flute.
Maybe it’s because you spam the board with your horrendous basketball takes and he’s one of the few who takes the time to call you out/respond.

Ohhhhh so exciting after four years to make .500. He would or should be fired for that too. You’re sitting here arguing about different levels of sucking.

To add. I don’t want to bash Thomas but he’s NOT nearly as good as you mcmen have built him up to be. He ran roughshod over inferior competition but is probably middle of the pack in the sec. He’s definitely not one of the top pg’s in the conference.

You want to beat LSU, then just stop McKinnon… he’s pretty much the only true consistent offensive weapon LSU has…watch the rest of LSU’s remaining games, dude’s going to be pretty banged up…
