Yea i think people are getting too caught up in what round a player gets drafted. It means absolutely nothing, see Nick Longhi.

The selection of Nola ended a streak of seven consecutive first-round or compensatory-round picks taken by the Phillies straight out of high school.

No first-round picks made by the Phillies since 2002 (Cole Hamels) currently play for the major league club.

It does mean something. The more players drafted ahead of him, the less likely they pay him top money. Doesn't mean it can't happen obviously, but it lowers the odds.

Meh Longhi got $440,000 as a 30th round pick.

The biggest bullet to dodge with Marshall today may just be the very first pick. The Astros have the most money to spend and would not pull the trigger on him unless they know they can meet his number. Maybe they go after a guy like Bukauskas instead.

It used to be 13 but title ix forced a 10 reduction for mens sports. 13 minus 10 percent is 11.7.

I'm hoping that the Arizona Diamondbacks draft some Tigers. I'd like to see them in a Hillsboro Hops uniform. They play 10 minutes from my house and I could walk to the games from work.

I just sent out an email to the 30 teams as Bobby Bradley's agent saying he will not sign unless they outlaw the curve ball in the pros because we see it as "cowardly deceptive" and not a truly American way to play a game.

@DellengerAdv: LHP Mac Marshall, headliner of #LSU's 14 signing class, confirms that he'll enroll at LSU. Expected move after he wasn't drafted last night.

I'm good with that. If they drafted one of our signees and he goes pro, then that kid was never a Tiger. There would be no need for me to go watch him...
