I think the jest is that there is a difference between a kid and nine innings of hard work on the mound versus a solo home run, but I get your point. IMO the second of the two does not warrant as much ovation.

No they didn't, just like they didn't when the MSU pitcher got each out!

There's a difference between pitching 8 and 2/3rds of shutout ball with 17 K's than hitting a solo homerun.

fricking lame IMO. Oh we are such good fans!!! It's a 1-1 game.

We dont cheer with in any other sport when an opposing team does good. if we are up by a good margin then fine but not in a tight game.

We also cheered when a ND player made a good catch as they were handing us our arse in the 8th inning.

you need to settle the frick down and realize it's a goddamned game, bro.

claps for good defense, always

I know this was directed at Russian but I'll answer it: Of course I would not have cheered for their go-ahead HR, but that's different.

It is a quirky baseball thing I'll admit, but normally similar ovations come from outstanding individual plays, like a really great catch risking injury, or players, like last night's great pitching performance. In a sort of odd way it's an appreciation of the individual effort, and the love of the game, in spite of who that person plays for.

Now of course no LSU fan wants to lose, and wouldn't cheer for something like their go-ahead run. No play with such immediate game-threatening consequences would, or should, be cheered.

It might seem weird to some of you but I for one like it.

Sorry you don't understand a tremendous pitching effort and why we applaud it. Really, stop posting.

Just Zealot. And he is just a troll. .

Most LSU fans will think this was one of many great moments in what was a great game.

Our fans are not always the classiest

I beg to differ.

Our baseball fans are among the classiest and most knowledgeable about the game as you're going to come across.

I'm talking about the core fans here, of course. Not necessarily the football fans who are killing time between seasons.

LSU baseball fans are the best in the country when things are going well. It was 1-1 at the time.

It wouldn't have been much if state handed our arse to us 10-1

maybe LSU fans have an appreciate of a good, tight game with good play

Didn't we invite a team to be part of our victory lap once? I wasn't there but either remember seeing it on tv or on here.

SIAP (I looked and didn't see it), when the starting Miss St pitcher was taken out of the game in the ninth inning Friday night LSU fans gave him a standing ovation, including the outfield bleachers. He deserved it.

Wow! Now if we could get our fans to treat LSU players with class, it would be nice. Actually had a thread calling out Shaq. One of the best ambassadors of LSU.

I'm a little bit tired of "LSU baseball fan" letting everyone know how "classy and knowledgeable" they are by clapping for the other team's coach, or a diving catch, or a good pitching performance.

I love LSU baseball, I was at the game tonight. But I think a lot of people in Alex Box Stadium stand and clap for plays for selfish reasons.

"Hey look at me, I'm clapping for the other team. I'm such a great baseball fan. Hey guys from the other team, what do you think of me? I was clapping for you. Do you really like me? Don't you think I'm a swell guy?"
