without the crazy -87 yard play, they gave up 6.7 yards per rush to LOUISIANA TECH. If etling only throws 10 passes the entire game we should win by a couple TDs

One thing I've noticed about these "all-world" Dlineman is that they may make a few plays but they never take over like their supposed to (Nkimdeche, clowney, Garrett, etc.).

Maybe this guy will be different, he does hit women so he obviously more manly than the greats of the past.

That also may be because the opposing offense makes it priority #1 to get them blocked. However, that emphasis on one guy opens up opportunities for the other players. It's why LSU's defense is a different animal with Key in the game vs. him being out. When Key is in it changes the way the opposing offense calls plays. They know the HAVE to get him blocked. But double-teaming him means everyone else is one-on-one. So while that one great DL/DE may not be making a ton of plays, his presence is allowing others to make those big plays.

I don't know if we have a good defense or not, we haven't played enough games to say for certain. We gave up some rushing yards against Tech but were also playing 6-7 DB's all night to keep their passing game under wraps.

I know we have the pieces to be a dominant defense against the run, but I still have my concerns about our DB's. Time will tell.

Looking forward to a fun Saturday night.

Shhhhhhhhhhh the rant has been saying Etling can't perform against all these elite SEC defenses LSU is going to face.

The facts are that there are only 2-3 good defenses LSU will face. The rest are meh af

La Tech's OL unit may be better than ours though. We have yet to bust a long run for TD

LSU will load up the box and stop the run. They will challenge Fitzgerald to beat us and our elite defensive backfield with his arm and while under intense pressure. If Fitzgerald can do that then you guys deserve to win. Good luck because you will need all the luck you can get.

Meanwhile, if you guys load up the box to stop our run game, then Canada and Etling will introduce you guys to our long passing game like we introduced Chattanooga last week.

Keep getting first downs and wear out the MS DL. That's the key. Nickle and dime them down the field, get the sweat doing, then the big plays will come.

According to State fans they gave up 100 yards rushing in the 4th quarter with their 4th string in the game
