Why can’t our DC recognize trends like this when it is blatantly obvious even to the average viewer?

Backs are completely against the wall at this point Baker, no point in coaching like a coward any longer.

Man up on the outside and bring the fckin house when it’s working. If the QB beats us then you tip your cap, but enough with the soft zone bullshite.

Because he is not as great of DC that many people try and paint him as.

I do not know why we have to wait until halftime to make necessary adjustments in game nor do I understand why he continues to implement a soft zone coverage when it never works.

Those numbers don’t tell us much without context. Maybe we were blitzing on long yardage situations. Stats have to be normalized for other things before you start drawing conclusions like that.

I guess you missed that 77 yd run up the gut on a blitz by Keys...

I thought that was Baker's whole thing coming in. Wasn't he pitched as this blitz genius? I don't know why we get away from that so much.

He was pitched as a lot of things he isn’t

Even if you blitz, there are gap responsibilities. If I remember it correctly, a DT got pushed back into Dottery - who of course tripped and fell down because he was too damn slow to his gap - leaving Dottery's gap wide open.

Then, of course, Cooley comes running in like a fool to fill the gap, not realizing the RB is 5 yards past him.

Again, I ask. Can Baker not teach well, or do the players not learn well?

Most of those yards came on the last drive when we dropped 7 or 8 and they had to throw the ball. We were routinely sending 5 or 6 at Minchey before that. The last drive of the first half is probably another exception, but it wasn’t as drop-heavy as the last drive.

Personally, I don’t have an issue with dropping 7 or 8 on that last drive so they can’t get behind you. No one is going to risk sending more than 5 in that situation. But either play man or hybrid coverage where you are matching up more with Safety help. The base zone looks don’t work without pressure and we’re not getting home rushing 3 or 4 just from the DL.

We have more analyst than players. It’s crazy how brain dead Baker can get under pressure.
