t may be a battle that will be fought until the season opener against McNeese State, but during Saturday’s 130-play scrimmage, LSU junior quarterback Anthony Jennings won the afternoon over sophomore Brandon Harris.
“At quarterback, I think both guys are continuing to come, but I think today Jennings probably looked just a little bit more productive overall,” LSU coach Les Miles said during his post-scrimmage news conference.
Miles said Jennings was “pretty crisp with his passes,” noting the junior tossed a couple of touchdown throws.
The tone was a tad different when referring to Harris.
Though Miles said Harris made plays with both his legs and his arm, he said Jennings had the more productive day under center.
“When you get to the film and rotate guys, you wonder if the route was exactly the way it was supposed to be, do we have any protection issue? … all those pieces that you put together once you get film study,” Miles said. “I think (Harris is) more capable than what he showed today.”

I believe we heard the same type of things about another qb that miles loved. Every spring and summer JJ was the heisman award winner.

All I read with that was "blah, blah, blah"
2015 will be the same as 2014 at the QB position sadly

As a fan I pull for every player on the team to improve no matter how they played the year before.
LSU is building a powerhouse team, let's see if it comes together when SEC play gets here.
If it does, sparks will fly.

Just Miles playing the competition game with these two guys. We will not know what is in his head until late Aug... going to drive us nuts by then!

You're right, keep being negative and hoping for the worst.
If I felt like some of you I would quit following sports.

Exactly! Im not going to take what one guy did on March 18 at practice that one time with much weight at all.. It will be who has the best body of work in the Fall.
And furthermore, if AJ does get the start, i would imagine under performing would get him pulled pretty quickly with BH having a year under his belt

Yeah but the question is will Jenning be better?
He seems to have the physical ability to be better but what about the mental and the chemistry with the wide receivers?
Based on last year Jennings struggled with mental processing and or chemistry with his WRs. Specifically he was late A LOT of the times with his throws. I hope he can fix that.
I believe he can get better with his accuracy issues. That just requires reps and instilling good habits through coaching. The mental part of his game and WR chemistry is what I'm most concerned with.

I'm not sure why people reply with the same shite over and over again.
It's like they're waiting on Miles to come out and say Harris is the starter and Jennings has been released from his scholarship.
If it isn't EXACTLY what they want to hear, then it's balls to the wall panic time.
Happens every single time.

The Advocate and/or Miles is trolling the fans and heating up the competition between the QBs. I wish everyone would stop dissecting every little thing Miles says, and just wait until game day before casting judgment. The best player will play - I believe that. And whichever QB it turns out to be, it will be better than last year - I firmly believe that as well.
Now, if the season would just hurry up and get here!

Not sure if serious, but we all know what's in his head.
He will drop these subtle hints all spring and summer until the first snap when he will start AJ, as he has planned since last year.

Not surprising at all that Miles will continue to justify starting Jennings no matter what. You bozos that are expecting for LSU to compete for the SEC this year are insane. Same coach, same QB, same results. Minimum 4 losses.

No we are hoping the ship sails into first instead of assuming it sinks at port...

yep. Miles may be stubborn, but after this past year, he knows that he can't afford another year like we just had at the qb position. I think Jennings was awful last year...but that doesn't mean he can't improve, significantly going into next season...and if he doesn't...as you said, there should be a quick hook.

Being positive is great but you also have to be realistic in expectations. Jennings was the worst qb in the sec last year. He didn't even show any signs of improvement throughout the year. I don't think we lose four games next year, but I'm also not going to act like Jennings is going to win us a sec title. Its too early too tell anything about this new team. We really wont know what we have going forward until the first few sec games. If we win the sec it will be behind a stout running game, and a great D that forces turnovers like 11 did.

The only person who will ever know what is in Miles' head is Miles, and even that is debatable. If Jennings starts and plays with the same fubar, this board will turn into a firestorm. It's gonna be interesting. It is 100% in Miles' hands.
