Can anyone confirm whether or not he's in the habitat right now?

I hope that Tiger Whisperer fella gets to make it out there to say goodbye! Mike LOVES that guy!

Here is a preemptive to PETA if they have the nerve to open their mouths about any of this. It is obvious that this animal has received outstanding care and that he will not suffer in any way. And you can tell by how grief-stricken his care-takers are that this animal was in the best, most caring hands imaginable.

And oh yeah, bite me, PETA.

obviously I think we're all in agreement with your sentiment

it isn't preemptive though... PETA already sent a letter to Alexander when they 1st announced he had cancer

I think we should all give Alexander a round of applause here for not even giving the hint of caving in to them

well done there... keeping this tradition alive... the live tiger program at LSU probably does more good for tiger conservation efforts and awareness than anything PETA has ever done

It is dusty as a motha trucker over here... I had a very quick and strong allergy attack causing liquid to leak from tear ducts at a moderate pace during press conference..

The audio was going in-and-out for me but I think I heard he won't be allowed back outside but will stay in his night-time habitat. Did I hear that correctly?

Also said he thought there would be a memorial service once he is cremated...

He said they would let him out as usual until his health declines to the point where they don't think it's advisable.

I'm just curious... and this may not even be possible due to whatever reasons...

Could LSU get both a male and female and start a breeding program

of course with one male cub being put in line to be the next Mike... it would be cool to have a true genetic line of Mikes

and also... of course... get new females for each new Mike so there's no inbreeding... this isn't Alabama

No. He will be allowed outside until they think it is time to keep him in permanently

Heartbroken. This Mike was a special Mike. He was very interactive with folks who visited especially the Tiger Whisperer, but that guy hasn't been around in several years. I have a bad feeling something happened to him. The media tried to find him a few years ago to no avail.

Tough day and an even tougher one coming.

Okay, good. I thought it was cruel they wouldn't let him enjoy outside while he could.
