It is a little ridiculous we dont get him in the cage. It is one of our main traditions and we completely just let it go away. The people defending it make no sense to me. There is zero reason for us not getting mike in the cage for gamedays. If for some reason he is to scared and too old to be trained(which seems unlikely) we should get another Tiger. The whole point of him is to be our freaking mascot.

Traditions? We don't do traditions anymore.

she's says it's the vet in charge of his care who is preventing any "strong" measures to get him into his trailer. And she directed it in a very derogatory way towards the vet. Not meaning a cattle prod or anything like that, but all they are allowed to do is open the door to his trailer & try & talk him into it.
This "vet" is an arseclown. It doesn't hurt the tiger at all to put him in the travel cage. For all of those acting like, "you can't force him to do something he doesn't want to, that's mean." How do they justify keeping him in his habitat? If you have no problem keeping this tiger in captivity his entire life, then you shouldn't have a problem with funneling him into a travel cage for a few hours just 7 times a year.
Get a new tiger!!!!!

and thats the difference between the Kingfish and a pussy like Jindal.
Can you imagine Huey letting that happen? He'd call that damn vet and tell him if he didn't, he'd be fired and get his license revoked, habeaus corpus and constitution be damned.

Just a few things. A longhorn bull is not like a tiger you give a bull a feed bucket and he will follow you over a cliff. Also as their horns gets longer the less they move unless it is for a piece of arse. Tie a 10 ft log to your head a see how much you move.
Petey is a better comparison. They say Buffaloes are hard as hell to control with fence much less walk him.
You give me a week of controlling his feed and where he is fed and he will never have trouble getting in the trailer again. It is not torture to be smarter than what you are working with. Anything, people included will sit on their arse if given no incentive to move. Its called communism/welfare, etc. you know the drill.

PETA. Gone are the days of cattle prodding.
The only reason PETA has any clout is because people allow them to. If their radical animal rights idiocy were treated with the universal scorn and derision that it deserves, their objections to Mike actually serving his purpose as the school's mascot would be irrelevant. Who exactly cares if PETA would be upset by him being enticed/prodded into his cage 7 times a year? These are people, remember, who think every hotdog sold at the stadium is an act of murder. Their opinion should not be taken seriously.

I'd love to see Mike out there for every home game. I'd also love to see someone try and crack a switch on him. I have a feeling that wouldn't end with Mike in the stadium.

Anyone got a cat in heat? Figure out how to bottle that shite and spray it around his cage, that should get him curious if nothing else!

Come Saturday afternoon, screw the animal rights activists and his handlers and get his arse in the trailer for the short trip to Tiger Stadium. We need his arse outside the Rebs locker room in an angry mood.

I just think it's funny that making him go to a stadium on game day is considered cruel treatment.

This is Mike the fricking Tiger. He's our mascot and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. If he doesn't want to get in that cage he's not going to get in that cage.
You people screaming that we should "get a new tiger" or whine about animal rights activists really need to get some perspective. Yes, he's an animal. But to sit there and demand that the monkey dance for you? Mike deserves better than that. Tradition? THE TIGER HIMSELF IS A WALKING, LIVING TRADITION.

How about trading him for Tony the Tiger from the truck stop?
