Penn State doesn't offer much at tight end but they do have two senior outside linebackers on the 2012 Butkus award. If there was an interest, we could build depth at a position where Miles has already stated we will be forced to rely on true freshmen. If you can make yourself better, do it.

leave penn state players alone, they were fricked today. Their fans, their students, their community, all were found guilty for a crime they didn’t commit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he was offered by LSU.

I don't think he was offered. I know a former Skipper coach that said he would have considered LSU if LSU had offered. It seemed like LSU just assumed he'd go to PSU (which he probably would have, but still).

Great kid all around from what I hear. I think he stays at PSU though...

Residual Scout page from 2007 says LSU didn't offer (bottom of page).

Us beating Bama will come down to 2 things.
#1 Our QB making plays which neither did last year.
#2 OUR coaches calling 2-3 trick plays to get alabama out of their comfort zone.

Do you really think we need to add to our roster

No, but depth with a louisiana guy who was one of the top linebackers in the Big 10 wouldn't hurt us

It wouldn't make sense for a PSU player with a year of eligibility left to transfer. It makes less sense if that player is a starter and has to compete at the new school for playing time.

Great discussion!

He would be another storyline to add to this great season looming upon us...something along the lines of...hometown boy, linebacker, rescued from LBU drainswirl, now with a chance to compete for national title.

I can already envision Mussberger's annnoying voice repeating it endlessly next January.

Les told the Mandeville staff "he dosent have the hips." After the Penn State committment they reevaluated and wanted him but he informed them it was to late.

FWIW there is no way Mike transfers. He is the captain of the Penn State team and after talking with him recently, he really likes his new coach and is ready to get drafted. He will not leave to go to a school to compete and learn a new system in 40 days.

No. It would be really disrespectful to Minter to bring in this guy, put him into the position that is now Minter's...... screw that.

Minter has potiential to be very good. Mauti is very good. Mauti > Minter so far in there college careers. Minter may have more upside though. If the coaching staff thought that Mauti could learn the system that quickly and beat out Minter and there was room on the roster, then I would take Mauti if he wanted to transfer and had eligibilty.

There are no guarantees to any player that they will be starters. To be the best you have to beat the rest. It's not about respect, it's about winning.

Mauti isn't going anywhere. He's Penn State through and through.

Last time I checked, the university suffered because of the actions of the leadership in that university.

Players, students, fans, and community are free to choose where they spend their money. If they choose to follow a university that allows such acts to occur then frick em.

Mauti missed the last 8 games of the season last year with a blown out knee. So no, I wouldn't take him.
