What’s up with Taylor? Injury?

Taylor had off season foot surgery that has not completely healed. No specific type of injury has been spoken or written about as far as I have heard or seen.

I believe that he may be reevaluated Friday for Saturday's game, but Wade has mentioned that he may be sidelined for another 2-4 weeks to allow continued healing.

It's a shame that as a senior he is currently sidelined by injury. But Taylor's biggest asset is his insane athleticism, particularly his leaping ability. That athleticism could be significantly curtailed by a foot injury, specifically his ability to explode off the floor. Maybe more than any other player on the team he can't afford for his athleticism to be diminished to a significant degree. If more healing is necessary then they shouldn't try to rush him back. If it looks like he could miss the entirety of the first two months of the season, then he may really consider red-shirting and giving it a go next year when he is fully healthy. LSU doesn't have anyone as athletic as him on the roster, but they are probably the deepest at the wing spot (Matthews and Hyatt), with the ability to slide Mays and Days there in certain lineups

Yep, I don't think the issue is necessarily season ending but the fact its his senior year you don't want:

1. him playing hurt and risking re-injuring
2. Him not playing his best and hurting his potential NBA stock

Sucks for him because hes a good player and great teammate. Also fun as hell to watch.

Veteran team in VCU that plays tough defense in a hostile environment.. yikes for our young guys in this one. Good early season experience nonetheless. Let's hope athleticism and offensive talent wins out.

4 of LSU core players have experience playing in tough environments and bigger games. In fact, I think guys like Smart and Williams thrive off it. Mays can be a calming influence.

I don't worry about the environment rattling LSU. I worry more about the ability to not turn the ball over without a PG who can control the game (like Waters). That's not to say Smart isn't a great player (he is), but his mentality is that of a pure scorer and his competitiveness can sometimes cause him to get caught up in the emotion and force plays that may not be there.

If LSU can play under control and not always try to make the "splash" plays (particularly on defense), I think they are the better team. Either way, it should be a learning experience for the team

Wade said they force a turnover on 22% of in-bounds plays!!

1 of every 4 or 5!

Each player will need to be involved on in-bounds plays. VCU will try to keep the in-bound pass from Smart and Mays, especially.

Go to the VCU ticket website. Good seats available. I have an extra ticket if you want it, my co-worker cannot make it to tonight’s game.

The hostile environment and booing coach Wade is probably good for us. If our kids are competitive, they should feed of that. Hopefully Emmitt and Smart goes off
