Les took over an elite program from Saban.

CPM didn’t make the CWS last year and retired.

Both took over programs in significantly better shape than LSU Basketball.

No doubt about that.
That made it easier to improve, but harder to compete for the title.
Wade won the SEC in year two at LSU. A tremendous accomplishment.
Ironically Trent Johnson did better, he took over after Brady and won the SEC in year one. He caved after thst.
Wade hasn’t caved.

CWW had a 16-2 conference record his second year here. What is it now. Better shape or worse shape?

At LSU we play for National titles. At least that's the standard other coaches were held to.

That’s true in baseball, track, gymnastics and to a lesser extent in football and softball.

It was Wade’s second season as HC.

Hasn't this been the case for all the coaches that have come from VCU. Starting with Jeff Capell, then Anthony Grant, Shaka Smart and Will Wade? All had really good records at VCU but then mostly a little over .500 once they moved on.

Hard to judge basketball like that. We are definitely in a different level than we were before Wade. He has improved the program. Still remains to be seen if he can go further than that.

1. LSU MBB has little championship history or tradition. That makes it unlike LSU Football or LSU Baseball. No LSUMBB HC should be held to fball and baseball standards.

2. WW has made us relevant in the SEC every year now.

3. This year's team has ONE 5* player and that is Efron Reid. What made them go 14-1 before injuries set in was defense. That defense was taught to them by WW and staff. Saying WW is not an x-and-o coach is wrong.

4. Note: I have been attending LSU MBB games since I was a sophomore in high school in 1966-67 and have been a season ticket holder since 1976-77. Our program has never been in better shape than it is now.

Not many on here will agree with you here but honestly a perfect example is look what Kim Mulkey has done to the Womens basketball program in year 1!!

She has literally took LSU womens basketball from bottom dwellers to competing for the SEC championship and at least a 3 seed or higher in the NCAA tourney in one freaking year.

Now she is what you call a great coach and wish LSU mens could land a coach like that somehow if Wade can’t ever manage to get over the hump.

Played for coach Brown. If you think coach was a good coach, you are mistaken. Great recruiter with decent assistant coaches.

At least Wade is admitting his mistakes and is willing to correct them. Those corrections need to made in the next couple seasons, or it’s time to move on.

Holy shite dude. You have Biden syndrome if you think this program is in the best shape ever. We have talent, have had talent, but in year 5 we are in a must win to get in the trny, and have made zero deep runs in the five years. Granted in 20 trny was cancelled, but we have regressed. Next year we are absolutely loaded. Another fizzle out in March and Wade is gone.

What was the teams record the year before he took overs

You know the program he took over not what he’s doing with the program.

Are you saying every coach who doesn’t get better and better every year is a bad coach? Because there would literallly be no good coaches.

Wade can't coach

Really ?, LSU is a top five defensive team in country !

You think that just happens by itself ?

This team is a hungry, aggressive team that wants to WIN. Do they go cold on shooting like at Kentucky ? -well yes , but they came back to give Kentucky a scare at the very end.

I like this team and think Wade is doing a great job !

Agree 100%

People keep complaining about “street ball” when he have a defense that communicates well and switches like crazy’s. Good defense is not the mark of a poorly coached teams

The issue is we have inconsistent shooters and guys who can’t hang into the ball when driving.
