He checks a LOT of boxes.....

Ethnicity: Check
Saban Tree: Check
NFL and College experience: Check
HC experience: Check but with mixed results. He does have MSU playing well this year.

and we have had success before hiring from MSU.....

Just saying this may be a name to watch for.

ETA: Currently making ~5.5 MM at MSU, we could increase that.

frick outta here dude. You know damn well mel tucker isnt gonna be the guy. Stop trying to start shite.

Ethnicity- check? Youre a damn fool. You also said you know the realities of the world we live in? What realities? The world where weve had a black president? The world where blacks are equal citizens under the constitution just like any other citizen is? How about bullshite affirnative action in the workplace and in institutions of learning where blacks literally get given opportunities bc theyre black and not bc theyre the most qualified? Hey dumbass, did you even know that LSU itself has a black president? You idiot.

Players want winning and winners. That transcends race.

See John Battle’s comments about Joe Burrow coming in and taking Justin McMillan’s job.

If your first criteria is anything other than football you’re a racist piece of shite. If we hire Mel Tucker it will be because he has shown the ability to coach his program to success and build a culture of winning, not because he’s black.

What you typed is insulting to Mel Tucker and every other black coach in the industry.

He is doing really well so far this year, though they haven't played that good of teams. If they perform in the second half of the season I would seriously look at him.

Sigh......

Maybe I should not have listed race first (knowing the vitriol prevalent on this haven for jackasses). It is certainly not the most important criteria. If ANYONE believes it is not at all figured in to the equation, they have their head directly up their arse.

LSU is dealing with off-field as well as on-field issues. Woodward, as AD has to navigate all of these. Any feathers in his cap would be welcome. Rant on imbeciles.

Obviously if I thought he was in no way qualified I would not have brought him up. Review his record, he is a possibility.

Who knows who the first choice will be.

Why the hell would we ever hire a coach from Michigan State? They aren't even the second best team in that yankee state.

I would prefer Fickell over Tucker, but we could do a lot worse than Tucker.

frick hiring anyone because of their skin color. I wouldn't mind Tucker just because he's a good coach. Period.

I don’t care what background the coach is just as long as he checks off every box that Woody sees in O’s successor. Hiring someone solely to check off racial and ethnicity boxes should not be part of the equation and I find truly divisive.

I think Mel Is a Good coach. Saban hired him as a GA at Michigan State in 1997-1998, hired him at LSU in 2000. He was a DC at Ohio State and was a DC in the NFL for 4 seasons. Saban hired him from the NFL again in 2015 and when Kirby got the UGA job, Mel went with Kirby as his DC.

I think Mel is an up and coming coach. He is 6-0, if he wins the 3 games he is suppose to win remaining on his schedule, that is 9 wins, he beats 1 of Ohio State, Penn State or Michigan, he is 10-2, he wins 2 of those 3 he is 11-1 and maybe coach of the year in the Big10. If accomplishes that in year 2 at Sparty, I think he gets and interview based on what he accomplished as HC and having an excellent Resume. Saban hired him 3 times. That is enough there for me to know the guy can coach. Just need to something on his resume as an HC.

You are a ignorant brainwashed person. What in the hell does this matter one bit? I want the most qualified period end of discussion.

Outside of that first racist criteria, further explain how this guy is anywhere near qualified for the LSU job?

Players knew Joe was that dude and at that point, it was over. Bring in a coach with an aura about him that exudes confidence and players will battle for that man.

You may want to call the LSU Diversity and Inclusion Officer and ask them. I certainly cannot explain it, but live in the here and now, so I recognize that it is a concern.

Whewwwww.... Thank You for engaging your brain.

I agree whole heartedly. 10 or more wins this year gets him a call.... You never know where this thing will land.
