The team is playing much better of late…. Outside of a bad early season loss to Nichols…. Our other 4 losses are to very solid teams.

Dayton is 11-2
Cuse is 11-4
KSU is 12-3
Tex is 12-3

All 4 teams are potential tourney teams… I think it is time to start viewing this team as a fringe tournament team if we can get to 9 SEC wins!

Kinda leaving out that Cook didn’t play any those games except Texas…which was his first game back so that barely counts. Everything is irrelevant for our BBall team and how they’re viewed before Cook

Today will say a lot for where this team is at.

Still have very little confidence in MM.

I disagree. Auburn is very good especially at home. Losing big wouldn’t say much

It would say they are not ready to compete at the top of the SEC…which is where Auburn is. But that doesn’t mean you cancel the season either.

Today is a low risk, high opportunity game for LSU.

Those are great points but I’m not sure about tournament talk yet. Let’s see how they do today at Auburn which is traditionally a tough venue. Even more so this year because their fb team was so bad.

I’m coming around on MM. He is a good coach, he just doesn’t have any talent. Now being a good coach is also being able to recruit so we will see. So far that his weakness

If LSU somehow gets to 9 SEC wins the committee will look at LSU as two different teams. One with Cook (who will likely end up as LSU’s leading scorer) and one without. That would work in LSU’s favor. BUT those 9 wins cannot be only at home and/or only against the bottom of the league. There would have to be 3-4 road wins in that group + wins over other SEC NCAA tournament teams. Beating Vandy 2x and other bottom dwellers at home won’t matter. Now, if they somehow win @ Auburn today everyone will take note

It's early in conference place so it is iffy trying to read too much into each team just yet but based on current consensus here is how I see it.

1. Losing big would say this team, at best, is only marginally better than last season.

2. Losing a close game says we are ready to at least be competitive with decent SEC teams.

3. A close win at Auburn says we can be competitive with most if not all SEC teams.

4. A blowout win puts everyone on notice that either LSU is a lot better or Auburn is a lot worse than everyone thinks they are. Maybe a combination of the two, only time will tell.

Pump your brakes on the cluse'.

We are still their best win with the exception of Oregon, and they are very likely gonna get boat raced at UNC today. And that was without Jalen Cook. Remember also we were only down by 2 at the half. It didn't get out of hand until after that. I would LOVE to play the orangewomen again with Cook at point with the games he has under his belt now.

That’s like judging the team off Nichols game. You can’t make season defining statements on one game. They need to win the games they should

Dayton is the one that hurts for me. Up 15 with about 9 minutes left and lose. That one was tough to take

Predicted score: LSU 48, Auburn 84.

It won't be competitive

Beating A&M and Vandy is nice, but all that does is get us out of the cellar, you’ve got to at least be able to compete with the top 3. Losing is one thing, getting blown out is another.

ETA. I think they play hard today.

Not really, Auburn has probably blown out or will blow out multiple tournament teams at home this year. Probably teams that will advance in the tournament. Not saying we are a tournament team but this one game doesn’t make or break the season no matter the margin of loss/victory.

Never said it was make or break, just said this will see where this team is at. Are we better than the team that got its doors blown off at Syracuse?
