I stood for the whole game in the student section. In the regular seats, I sit unless it's a big situation, then stand and scream. Seems pretty much common sense.

I'll sit whenever everybody else does but if it were up to me I'd be on my feet all game.

Its about respect for others. Everyone will stand and cheer at times in a game. Happens in every one. I'm talking to the jackasses who stand up the entire game when nobody else is because they think its their "right". Just flat out selfish and disrespectful to others.

bummer for you. Because you are "that guy". If the section is standing up, I will. Older people who can't just can't. One of these days you may learn respect for others, until then you're just a douche... congrats.

GET OFF MY LAWN

You're the reason why our stadium sucks compared to what it used to be. Hows that traffic at halftime, brah? Its a lot better after the clock hits 0:00, trust me.

You're "that guy".

They also seem to think it makes them a "superfan" or something. It's just a reminder that the world is full of morons.

Last year in T-town we were on the 4th row of the lowers in the "student section" (only 5-6 rows). The players parents were behind us and kept hollering for us to sit down. I could not believe how these middle aged people could sit at a game of that magnitude.

We stood and grinned about it the whole game.

I try to be respectful to everyone around me. If I know there are sitters behind me I will not stand unless those in front of me are standing. Its really easy to get along with others when you recognize no one is more special than anyone else.

You don't have to be a prick to be cool.

Ditto.

I'll also stand on big 3rd and 4th downs regardless. If you're too much of a whiney prick to stand up for really big plays, I don't think live sporting events are for you. This isn't a Tiger Stadium thing. People stand at all major football venues for big plays, college and pro.

It's not about how much you paid, or I paid, it's about continuing to make Tiger Stadium an intimidating environment.

For big plays you can put your cotton candy and Coke down and yell, clap, stand, whatever you want. If you can't, I'm sorry, if/when I get to be that age I'll understand and probably watch from home.

There are times to stand during a game. From what you are desribing you were probably the only one in your section standing. 1st qtr against Washington is not the time to stand IMO.

No, you are. I agree with your leaving early comment though. You just need to learn the "stand when appropriate" thing and you'll be alright.

Well the OP hasn't specified as to whether it was due to him standing the entire game or only a handful of plays. Nor has he specified whether The people in front of him were standing.

If its a big play/kickoff/3rd down/the people in front of me are standing, I'm un-assing and not asking those behind me for permission. I think this is commonly accepted game etiquette. If anyone has a problem with this, then they are showing me just as much disrespect as you're admonishing this guy for having.

In my experience, if it's a moment that people would ordinarily stand for, there won't be a lot sitting. Especially at a college game. If it's 35-0 late in the 3rd quarter and the backups are in, I'll pretty much be sitting but will still want to watch the game. Hopefully everyone else feels the same way.

What the frick does standing the whole game have to do with making noise? I haven't read any studies that have concluded crowd noise is significantly louder with people standing all game.

Maybe you guys should get together with baseball bats and start taking down all of these grannies and grandpaws that refuse to stand for 3 or 4 hours straight.

If you can't get on your feet and actually cheer for 1 second of the game, you're just there for the "event", and to say you were there.

Problem with most "LSU fans" is that they enjoy saying they were at the game, more than actually being at the game.
