Been called during a key play in the dang CWS final that had no effect on the run scoring.

Maybe we should have not given them the chance to make the call

What other rules should they not enforce?

Here's a thought: play by the MF'in rules.

A rule is a rule whether it's a midweek game in March or the CWS championship series.

no way, the call is made before the throw to first...so the ump can't wait to see if the runner at first is safe or not...it is the right call...the bigger issue is the penalty on the 3rd base runner...doesn't make total sense to have him go back, but that is baseball

He didn't even touch the guy. One thing if he decleated him.

That kind of play could potentially do some serious damage, needs to be called

The umpire is not thinking about the runner at 3rd on that play as it's happening. He is immediately calling interference because it was obviously interference with the throw to first. It's an automatic, immediate call.

The fact that the runner at third had to go back is not what the umpire is thinking or even supposed to be thinking.

Blame Slaughter, who made a hopelessly dumb mistake.

They enforce this yet if you watch the NBA finals, they're allowed to travel 9 feet with the ball and the ref ignores it.

Yep, the runner from 3rd being sent back is stupid. It didn't interfere with him scoring, but a dumb rule is still a rule.
