I could be mistaken, but I was told he worked with our line last year, and was involved in film study, too.

If true, maybe that could be added to the list of several possibilities on what the Hell happened to our O-line with so many returning. Especially the performance at the center position, which, IMO, has been arguably the worst position.

I was told after his interview last year by someone who would know that he thought the job was his prior to LSU's announcement. I thought at the time it would be surprising given his coaching resume, but knowing his family and background, I would have been happy with the move.

I'm with rbdallas...I don't think KM would have just sat there & been quiet if he didn't believe in the gameplan. I could see him bumping heads with Miles & possibly having some crazy halftime arguments.

You cant learn on the job at LSU. He could have been a GA for a couple of seasons if he really wanted to get into coaching.
Because after a 15? year career in the NFL, mentoring players, working with coaches on the protection schemes for that week's game plan and being known as 'a coach on the field' when in college and the pros just isn't good enough - he should be a Grad Assistant first...

I honestly cant think of a better Oline coach then Mawae. He is literally just coaching the line, thats it. His experience is being one of the best in the NFL at it. I dont see why he needs prior coaching experience to coach just the Oline

This is asinine...so we should hire Jerry Rice to coach receivers, Dick Butkus to coach linebackers, Jimmy Graham in a few years to coach tight ends?
Just because you can go out and do something yourself doesn't mean you know how to teach that to someone else.
If you argue otherwise, you're ignorant to what makes a good choice, or you're just someone who wants an "LSU" guy in the position for the sake of having an LSU guy. Worked out well for Alabama when they brought in Ray Perkins, Michigan with Brady Hoke. Hell when Miles was hired some idiots wanted Terry Robiskie to come here.

The issue has more to do with the personnel on the OL and not the coaching IMO.

Wrong personnel for his system, but still they mauled in Stud's system the last two years.

So Jerry Rice WR, Butkus Linebackers, Mawae oline, Deon Sanders DB coach, Montana Qb coach. Yes I think that coaching staff would do quite well. You dont think it would?

Well what did Nick Saban ever do as a player? He was a short little DB from Kent State. He played in the MAC.

Well?????

Being a good player doesn't translate into being a good coach just as not having a great playing career doesn't mean you can't coach. Being a player doesn't guarantee anything at the coaching level.

Not to be a dick but maybe there is a reason that he is Currently living in Baton Rouge and serving as a volunteer coach for a fifth and sixth-grade football team"

He lacks coaching experience. I'm not saying he won't be a good coach but I understand being hesitant about hiring him.

I agree when talking about being a coordinator or head coach. But I think when specifically coaching the one position you played, it helps a ton.

And it is sad it's that way, becasue KM could have helped the program alot and on so many levels!!! Just another example of Les azz clown coaching style and personality!
