Yeah, this is the best I can remember our defense looking since 2011 maybe.

I think it’s known that he came back to college because he wants to be a College HC.

Someone will pick him up. Auburn?

They are such a solid tackling defense and that's so good to see. I love watching defenses where once a guy gets his hands on you you go down. We haven't seen that in awhile from an LSU defense. Even some of Arandas defenses while good still had some sloppy tackling at times.

We were really fricking good in 2016. Gave up more than 21 once in sec play, several games of 7-10 points given up, and held Lamar jackson to like 7 points in the bowl game.

I think BK is the biggest difference maker being he hired Matt House. Out of the hires that BK has made? No doubt.

The biggest difference maker was definitely having a head of nutrition and parting ways with Moffitt. Moffitt will always be one of the greats, but it just hadn't been working for several years. I don't know if the science passed him by or if O's lack of leadership made nobody take their workouts seriously, but either way the conditioning is night and day. They're all in shape and still feeling good late into the 4th.

But the more I think about it that was on the administration for not making absolutely certain that either both teams played a week zero game or neither did. That’s something you ensure BEFORE you sign on to play the game.

A week 0 game would have helped, especially in the tackling department which was poor that game, but I think this point is overstated. It's all new coaches in a new scheme. Week 1 was never going to be good, and I'm surprised it's improved as much as it has in such a short time period. We kind of needed to rely on FSU being bad again to stand a real chance in that game, and that does not appear to be the case.

I mean we played mediocre vs credible competition in FSU.

We played a subpar first half vs MSU.

We dominated two teams defensively that we shouldn't even be scheduling.

Let's see what happens in 2 weeks vs Tennessee.

We hold that team to 20 points or less, then we are talking about something.

He is. And there's a Tigerdroppings metric to measure this by the way:

No posts/threads about 3-4 vs. 4-3 and that we don't have the personnel for one or the other (or both).

That means us, the fanbase, have confidence that it isn't a flawed system overall.

In general, House has communicated what he wants and the players are playing within that. Now that sounds bland and generic but when players don't believe in the system you get defenders trying to do too much or make up for flaws in design (which is what we've seen the last two years). So rather than bland, it is a significant thing.

Lets see how the D does against Tenn first. This is the game that will expose the strengths and weakness of the Defense.
I was really worried about the D and secondary with all the 3rd down conversions in the FSU and MSU games and the huge space giving to the WR's.
I'm anxious to see what they do against Tenn. It will be a real test.

I like the way they looked vs NMS, but I’m not pressing the gas pedal on talking about them being a great defense yet. I need to see some SEC play first at least.

I like what I’m seeing recently though.

House has been great...coaching staff as a whole...but the Transfer Portal IMO is the biggest impact maker this year

to stand a real chance in that game

Without the special teams miscues we win by about 10. Just take away the one at the end and we’re tied.

We’d probably beat them by 14 now.
