Some folks on here have asked about his contract. Termination (both With and Without Cause) guidelines begin on page 11. Here ya go:

Nice catch. Obviously, he was still dating "16" on paperwork. For some reason I'm not surprised no one at LSU caught the mistake.

Meh. You let a scrivener's error like that go.

Congrats to Coach Canada on the massive $3 million pay day coming up.

Too bad he actually won't be paid to do anything here.

Sounds like a lot of wiggle room to me. At least enough to tie it up in court for a long time if LSU so chose.

If the rumors are true about fights, talking shite publicly and some issues with recruits, there is likely enough there to get LSU out of the contract.

So, I could see LSU offering a lower settlement and him accepting it.

I doubt he ever sees more than one or two months worth of paychecks. Matt Canada will not stay on the market long. And, has anyone clarified he's actually being fired? He could very well be leaving for greener pastures.

But what kind? Do you think he is (or was close to being) fired and LSU backed down a little? Or, is this just a mutual parting?

He will get whatever salary he earns from his new school and LSU will make up the difference of his LSU salary. There are severe penalties for not paying a person his salary. Whatever shoving match occurred at the beginning of the year, if any, if it was serious enough for cause they should have fired him when it happened, and not allow him to work the rest of the year with no issues. Weak cause case from the littl infor I know.

LSU doesn’t have to make up shite if he’s leaving on his own. Which its apparent he’s not. Do the math

University X to Canada: we will pay you 5 dollars for the next 2 years and then 1 million the following year.

Since he dated 2016, do we owe him as much money? That'd be an interesting card to play.

Except I don't think it's in LSU's best interest to litigate with another former coach. At some point you have to wonder what damage that is causing to LSU. That could come back to bite us when hiring future coordinators.

It would be a stupid card to play.

A good lawyer could make that contract void.

Lot of stupidity in this thread.
LSU is not in a good position to negotiate anything under these terms. And it sounds like Canada is listening to his attorney and playing his cards perfectly.
And, no, the date error is clerical in nature and will be disregarded entirely.
LSU's going to have to pay Canada under this contract and it didn't have to be this way.
Bebe's immaturity and impulsiveness will be costly.
