mathieu must be on the field as much as possible. it may be hard for him to live up to the hype, but his awareness is on another level. looks like eric berry out there....really incredible.

i do like simon in press and man coverages. he has great size and is very physical.

I'd like to see Mathieu put on maybe 5-10 lbs over the offseason of muscle. He's the closest "troy polamalu" type of player I've ever seen at LSU.

Just a straight freak on the field.

i'd agree with that. he could use a little more weight and let him fly like polamalu. he just wrecks shite all game. love it.

Nah!!! He would slow down with more weight on his body. I like the way he is. Anyone know what's TM's forty time is?

Dam! TM looks faster than that from the corner blitz.

I think Tyrann should start at CB but slide to the nickel in nickel and dime packages.

This, he is an excellent cover corner, and a great playmaker on the edges. And no, he's not too short to play corner on this level, thats laughable.

I'd like to keep him in the nickle and develop Simon into a pure cover corner (if that is possible)

My reason for asking is that Simon (who looked good in very limited action this year) is a bigger more prototypical corner who may be better able to go man to man with the big WRs in the SEC

6'3" is not "prototypical cornerback size". The average corner in the nfl is around 5'9" or 5'10". So no Tyrann is not too short to play cornerback in the sec. That is laughable. Really tall cornerbacks have trouble covering small shifty receivers, which is what most receivers are. That's why corners are typically small

THIS
Tall corners à la Cromartie are "situational" corners. They excel when defending WR's their own height, but they get burnt easily by slots and tailbacks.

Even still, Cromartie is the only prominent NFL corner Simon's size. He's gonna grow into an excellent safety.

In a 4-2-5, which LSU almost runs under Chavis, tall rangy corners excel big time towards the sidelines against bigger receivers, just because their length and top end speed can defend the routes that taller receivers run. However, you wouldn't want to put a tall guy inside to contain or cover slots.

The Recruiting board said that Micah Eugene was recruited to take over TM's role... Similar size and an absolute playmaker

Why take Ty mat out of a roll that he was overly impressive at...Mo claiborne takes PP spot and Simon takes the other side with taylor and loston rotating at Safety

I think ty mat likes where hes at, being able to attack the ball and roam around. Are we even sure he can stop the deep ball, no

I guess we will see in the combine and the NFL....Its hard to compare two cornerbacks in 2 different conferences, especially when the big 12 is known to throw a little more. PP I think will have a better NFL career than prince though...

Best WR's PP faced in college...Jones, Aj green

Best WR's Prince faced....Blackmon and broyles

Let me ask you this. Do you take your best playmaker off the field? You want to start a kid bc he is tall and made one great play but have we really had a a chance to see his whole body of work ? If you answer no like anybody in their right mind would, you would know u never take ur best playmaker off the field. Like one guy said on here a kid like Michah Eugene or Paul Turner will fill TM role and guess what since TM is such a great blitzer we can send him off the edge too.
