Marlon Taylor Vs Zion Williamson In a Dunk Contest?

Was rewatching the broadcast. Dick Vitale seemed incredulous at the very thought of Taylor competing against Zion in a dunk contest. I think Zion would get destroyed against Taylor, and I really like Zion.

Wahhh? If college basketball had a dunk contest and every team put up one player, Taylor would absolutely be the LSU representative.

When you have a guy who's like 6'6 275 like Zion and can move like he does, things just look more "impressive". A guy the size of him should not be able to play like he does.
Taylor probably can out jump him any day of the week, but he's also only 6'5 210, so it doesnt "look" as impressive.

Really? I don’t think Zion has near the Agility or quickness of hand to do the cooler dunk contest moves like Gordon or Lavine did that one year. I think Zion has plenty of explosiveness, just not the kind of mid-air agility that Taylor has. Think about it, even though big boys dunk more in games than anyone on the court. The big hulking 6’10” almost 300 pound guys never win dunk contests

Williams is a strong dunker, when you have a high flyer like Taylor things can just look more impressive though. Williams is just a very VIOLENT dunker.

Zion is a more versatile, flashier dunker - Marlon gets up but almost always off two feet and close to the basket.

Yea I understand this line of thinking, I just don’t know if Zion would be able to pull off the intricate moves. In raw power he is untouchable

Yes but I would think from the Alley-Oop alone he would know that Marlon can jump higher and farther.

Much better than I thought he would be honestly. Still looks a little clunky on a couple of those moves. I take it back. Marlon wouldn’t destroy him. I still think Marlon would win but that is much better than I thought
