I think it's a mediocre analogy, but there are similar failures in both organizations.

Failure at the highest level (AD & GM)

Multiple instances of coaching failure

Multiple instances of QB failure

Main difference is we at least contended for the championship with all of those detractors in effect. And actually won with 2 of those 3 in effect. Plus winning percentage, we haven't even sniffed a .500 season in over 15 years.

That analogy would work flawlessly for a team like Mississippi State or Vandy though.

What baffled me was the conversation he and McShay were having was all about how it's the culture here with the QBs and its been because of both Miles and O. How the hell can our current QB situation be Orgeron's fault? The best two Qb's we had on the roster, we kept. Both of those came to LSU under O.

Bringing in Burrow was huge for O and LSU. Yet the focus is on losing the 3rd and 4th string guys.

Hopefully, if Burrow does well this season, this QB narrative will start to die down.

Well Miles went and got Mettenberger as a transfer. Burrow is a transfer. The real problem and criticism has been this programs inability to manufacture talent at the QB position from start to finish. I genuinely hope that Brennan corrects that trend.

I'm not knocking Orgeron on something he hasn't had time to correct, I don't think he's a good game day head coach. That's been evident to me since last year.

Alabama was the perfect example last year. Did I expect to win? No. But our gameplan clearly didn't work and Orgeron seemed content to not getting blown out. I want a scrapper as my HC.

“ all hype and propaganda”

We have had good college quarterbacks at times. What we haven’t had, is a true difference maker at QB. A quarterback who could, at times, put the team on his shoulders and carry it to a big-time victory.

Of course, those are pretty hard to find.

Both transfers from other schools. We have a QB development problem, kinda like the Cleveland Browns.

He did an amazing job being able to keep Narcisse and Brennan at LSU after Miles was fired. Also amazing with Burrow. He gets no blame from me for the transfers.

Where he does get blame is with the coordinator situation last year and not having continuity in the offense in year 2 along with not signing a young QB in last year's class. It is offset some with Burrow. But, you only get 2 years with him vs 4 years with a freshman which would be better long term. He also seems to have a couple of good guys committed. Let's hope they make it to campus.

Very fair assessment. Agreed with all of that.

In reference to the QB situation, I do not think he is wrong.

Here's to hoping it changes.

Just think, had LSU beat Troy and Notre Dame last year or State, we would be preseason top 5 or 10

Not worried about preseason rankings. Actually looking forward to all the crow that basically every media member & publication will have to eat soon. Spears included.

Not sure how Spears hasn't yet understood that if he deep down wants LSU to improve, like at the QB spot, him constantly bashing us on national tv definitely isn't helping. Only makes the job that much more difficult when you have to counter everything he says to the kids watching him.

Yeah, preseason rankings are completely useless. Every year a team comes from outside of the top 25 into the top 10. Win games against this schedule and that will be LSU this year even though they will be right inside the top 25. Same idea.

Spears was obviously disappointed about the QB situation. What do you expect him to say? He is an analyst giving his honest opinion about LSU.

It's not Marcus Spears' job to recruit good QBs to LSU, that's on Coach O.
