The Browns have won one game in two season. LSU has won at least 8 games every season this century. It's not the best comparison.

A closer comparison would be the Ravens: a team that has won multiple Super Bowls and is usually a playoff quality team despite an underwhelming collection of quarterbacks. And like LSU, their QB play has recently caught up to them as they've slid back to the pack a bit more while not totally collapsing.

LSU ranked in the top half of nearly every passing category in the conference last season, so what does that say about the other SEC programs? Especially Florida, whose QB play has been horrific recently. Danny Etling won't make anyone forget about Bert Jones, but if LSU didn't already have the rep as a terrible QB school, he'd be widely considered as a good not great QB.

ETA: The Cleveland Browns analogy was in reference to our QB situation.

He's right and allowing those quarterbacks to leave is insane.

Not sure how Spears hasn't yet understood that if he deep down wants LSU to improve, like at the QB spot, him constantly bashing us on national tv definitely isn't helping. Only makes the job that much more difficult when you have to counter everything he says to the kids watching him.

Give me a break. Blaming the fans and analysts is such chicken shite. You know how O, Enmsinger and rest of the team and staff can dispel this (accurate) notion that LSU has had shitty QB play over the years? Have non-shitty QB play! On the actual field!

He's dead wrong. Cleveland went winless last season

Again, I don't think MS was discussing record...

Think about the Browns fan with the Jersey that has the list of QB names on it. I'm too lazy to find the pic and post it.

That is the comparison.

And that comparison is wrong. Danny Etling alone is miles more comparatively successful than any Browns QB since.... I don't know, Kosar?

Last season among SEC QB's, Etling was 6th in completion percentage, 6th in yards, 2nd in yds/att, 8th in TD, 2nd in INT, 3rd in passer rating, and 5th in yds/game. When was the last time a Browns QB was comfortably in the top half of nearly every QB stat? Etling ranked 6th nationally in yds/att and 13th in passer rating.

To compare that to the relative performance of Browns QB's in the NFL is almost intentionally wrong.

This was the mistake of hiring in house. We still have the same rep of being a qb graveyard even though things are finally in place at that position.
Nobody would be saying that if we’d hired a fresh face. That’s a lazy assessment by Spears.

We have a QB development problem, kinda like the Cleveland Browns.

We sure as hell do! Not sure if its that we can't spot talent at the high school level, overestimate that same talent, or simply can't develop them once they get here because our coaches suck at it.

More than likely, a combination of all three.

Saban had to rebuild the national reputation of LSU football.

Hummm Jerry Dinardo acually had the ship righted. He did a excellent job of recruiting as well. His big screw up was Lou Tepper. But the cupboard was pretty full when Saban got here.

No that happened in 2011 when Nick publicly executed Les in front of the college football world and turned us into their little bitch. This program has been on a down hill slide ever since.

O may not be the guy but he hasn’t done to bad a job so far. Most reasonable people can admit that.

Him and his buddy, Finebaum were the main ones pushing for O to get the permanent head coaching job. Finebaum knew what he was doing.

He loss to Troy and took our worse hammering by Mississippi State in series history. His First big hire at OC was a cluster frick. His first recruiting class was the worse in fifteen years. His second OC hire try hasn't been hired by ANYONE as a OC in twenty years. He played the weakest LSU schedule in twenty years and loss four games.

If you don't think that was bad, you are a clueless troll.

The best thing he has done is bring in a QB who might be good, but doing that has caused us to lose half our scholarship QBs.

Yeah, O is on a fricking roll.

If you watch that whole video, at the end they say that it is just the culture of college football today. Quarterbacks, transfering in and out.

Fat arse Marcus Spears was leading the media charge on Orgeron getting the job. Then wants to shite on LSU every chance he gets when his beloved candidate has turned LSU into a non factor in the SEC. No shite LSU is irrelevant fat arse! We hired the DL coach and worst HC in Ole Miss history because former players liked the fact that they got invitations to come back to practice. GFY Spears.
