Of course. But don't act like its only a 2 inning sample size with Hess. It's closing in on 100 innings of being just plain terrible as a starter.

I'm not saying he sucks or isn't a good pitcher, but my idea of a Friday Night starter is a guy who has complete control of his pitches and will dominate teams like this...Hess has trouble controlling his pitches and it's not a new thing

I get it. If he doesn't improve after the first game then of course a change is worthy of discussion. Nerves of the first game of the season could be a real thing.

We talking about practice. He may very well be Lange 2.0. But, let's see it in a game before anointing the Friday night starter.

Yes, we are in fact talking about practice... Against a very good lineup, where they swing the bat just like they do in a normal game. It's really not a difficult concept, my man.

And I haven't personally anointed him as anything yet. I said if he's as good as we think he is, he should be the friday night guy by SEC play.

I know you weren't. It's the title of the thread. I hope he pitches as good in the game in front of 12,000 people as he did in practice as well.

Preseason means nothing. Nada. Zilch. Never has, never will.
And btw, he was garbage in the fall.

Preseason is where the coaches make their evaluations, genius. Of course it means something. If they aren't performing well in the preseason, what do you think will happen in games? Some of you refuse to think beyond the end of your noses. Too giddy to make some snarky comment, with nothing to back it up.

And no, he was not garbage in the fall. That's complete BS.

This is the problem in general with Hess. He gets way too jacked up

Wouldn't that suggest that the coaches saw something in Hess and that's why he started game 1?

Nice response from someone that doesn't know how to respond intelligently.

Yes he was. He did well in preseason, but guess what, so did Hess. So while it does mean something as to who will see the field first it is NOT a reliable indicator of how a season will go. Do you need me to type slower so you can understand?

He’s never even thrown a college pitch yet. Yeah let’s crown him the Friday night guy.

Not when it comes to veterans. That's Mainieri's M.O.

look no further than last year. When Hilliard was healthy and dominating, and Hess and Gilbert were both struggling, he had Hilliard starting on Sunday. It takes Mainieri a long time to move freshmen ahead of veterans. When a freshman cracks the weekend rotation out of the gate, it speaks volumes.

Hess wasn't nearly as good as Marceaux, and that is a completely objective opinion. I thought Hess had a very good summer, and am hoping that carries into this season, even though this was not a good start.

But IF (I cannot emphasis that any more clearly) Marceaux is as good as advertised, he will be our best pitcher. That is less of an indictment on Hess as it is a compliment to Marceaux. If you've been following all of my posts in this thread, then you would have noticed that I began saying I'm not panicking on Hess. I'm just saying that ralistically, and for the better of the team, Marceaux should be the friday guy by SEC play, if he shows out over these first few weeks.

We know. You’ve already said Marceaux is better than Nola. It’s bookmarked.

Of fricking course Marceaux will eventually be the the Friday guy! We’ve been following him since his sophomore year of high school. We ALL know he’ll be a Friday guy but he hasn’t thrown a single pitch yet.

Quit being a fricking football Stan and calm the frick down

You are really an insufferable punk aren't you? I DID NOT say he's better than Nola. I said he MAY be more advanced than Nola was at THIS STAGE. And that IF if stays healthy, he COULD break numerous LSU records.

Do you understand any of that? Or do I need to walk you through it?

People like yourself demonstrate zero ability to read something in context, and instead immediately jump to all sorts of conclusions that are not stated. All because you get off on being a snarky little frat boy. Get over yourself.

Since I know this is what you're talking about (from another thread), here were my exact words, to back up what I just said above. The only difference is I said he "seems" more advanced than Nola was at this stage, and not "may". It is nevertheless far from a declaration:

"Landon Marceaux is Aaron Nola-esque, with his stuff and command, but seems more advanced as a freshman than Nola was at that stage. Which is scary when you consider how dominant he became the next year. Marceaux, if he stays healthy, might shatter a number of LSU records. He's number 1 to watch for, in my opinion."

That is a very clear statement talking about his potential, and worded carefully to make it clear that this is how good I think he "might" be.

And you bookmarked that? What a joke.
