Man what a turn around in basketball

Not only did we expect to win today but losing to Florida by 4 at Florida is causing a meltdown. Personally I think we should of won but in the SEC it’s hard winning on the road with the refs which includes conference games at the PMAC. For me, we played hard and didn’t give up. Got into could trouble in the second half and a few non calls on Florida decided the game. Losing by 4 to Florida at Florida is a win according to the computers so now we move on and when we are 12-6 in sec or better at the end of the year we will be riding into the NCAA tourney to dominate

There are no moral victories.

Right now we are building a program. It takes time

My high school freshman football team went 1-9. Same could be said about us.

It’s not.

That’s good, but when is it no longer too soon to not be thrilled with only this? I realize we’re building the program, but it feels like the third year in a row we’re “just happy to be there.” Excited about the rest of the season, but by next year I would hope we’re done treating this like a milestone accomplishment.

"Should have" won. Shot about 20% on shots within 4 feet of the basket today and didn't crash the boards hard enough in the second half.

They are learning to play a match up zone on defense. It takes time. I expect improvement as the season goes on.

Got exposed inside, it's our weakness. Still, we played tough on the road.

I agree. I think they can address the post defense with Leblanc and O'Neal. Heck throw Gray in there, let him lean on the other team's bigs and eat fouls. He could have fouled UF's center pretty hard a couple of times and wiped that stupid glare off of his face. Maybe the guy wouldn't have scored about 20 in the second half on us.
Even with little interior defense, the team cut UF's 10 point lead to 2, got a bad call at the end on foul that was just a straight steal and put themselves in contention to win at the end. We're going to get better and make the tourney this year. I'm hoping they go at least to the Sweet 16.

Defensive effort is lacking. We need to make 8-10 3’s to beat good teams.

LSU does not have the inside players to win consistently on the road against the top teams... nothing new here. We shoot 41% and get beat on the boards. Going to lose everyone of those.

2021 now and this is still a thing

Will Wade will forever get excuses. For some reason the rant gets a hard on for him. He’s overrated

Yeah it’s crazy. It’s almost like he lead us to a 16-2 SEC title in his 2nd year after he inherited a dog shite program

We needed Thomas to make 1 or 2 of the 3s he missed

Wolford was tentative going for a shot. I hope he gets over this.

Consider how many things could have turned this game around.
1. Cam was off for him. A couple more of his three's go in and we win.
2. We absolutely had to have Days and LeBlanc in there to hit the boards and play defense and they both got in foul trouble. This was due in part to bad calls but also some really stupid fouls. They both need to be more careful in the future and learn what is a good foul and a bad one.
3. The team overall missed a lot of easy shots (layups, put backs under the glass) and we only shot 41% for the game.
4. Defense was a problem once again. It was interior defense this time and not three's. We held them to a 23.8% on their three attempts which was great, while we shot 38.9 which was again great. Just two or three more stops and we win.
All of you who scream about defense should realize that the modern game favors the offense. I haven't noticed any lack of effort and have generally been impressed with this team's attitude and hustle. Let's face it, for this team to win we need to shoot well and out score people. We didn't do that in this game.
But it's only one game folks. No team in the SEC is going to be undefeated this year. It seems to be a fairly well balanced league and the winner will have several defeats.

Meh it’s basketball. Nobody really watches or cares too much about bball.

Meh bball is the quickest turn around time in the land. We aren’t playing up to the talent on roster

This applies to all schools. LSU's offense is good enough to win a lot of games. It's good enough to make the tourney. But it's going to be difficult to make a deep run without a decent defense. It doesn't have to be a great defense with this offense, just solid.
2018 was Wade's best defense with Bigby-Williams controlling the paint. It was ranked 59 and that's okay. It was 179 last year and 114 today. That's a problem.
