Dale Brown consistently got "top level talent" at LSU. Every coach since Dale (even Trent) signed top level talent in various degrees.
We are in the TOP DOZEN nationally in signing McDonald's/Parade all Americans. If you doubt me, look at the players Johnny signed. Look at the talent Brady signed. Even Trent signed Johnny O'Bryant and others.
Talent acquisition has NEVER been a problem for LSU basketball. I'd put our all-time team up against ANYONE.
If we ever hire the right coach (and we SURE AS HELL had him with Wade), and not run cowering like pussies whenever the strong as a house of cards NCAA comes sniffing around (along with the bad press that goes into overdrive whenever they get the chance), and stand by that coach, you will see what LSU basketball can truly be.
There is no reason we can't make 19/20 tournaments, at least one final four every decade, and a natty every 25 years. And that is MINIMUM expectations. As Wade said, we're a sleeping giant, and it'll be a shame if we never awaken (and keep awake) that giant.

So your argument is that McMahon can't build a competent roster? Because this is HIS roster. If that is the case, then what gives you reason to believe he's suddenly going to be able to build a great roster next season? (Assuming LSU doesn't have a good year this season).
Because of the nature of college basketball today this is fully HIS program now. Thus, he fully owns the results...good or bad.

Well, considering Wade was 1 of only 3 HCs in the last 50 years to at least take LSU that far and his replacement IMMEDIATELY matched the futility of Johnny Jones and Trent Johnson, I'd say I understand the longing for the guy who could at least get LSU that far.

I don't think any of our players we have now are as good as Cam Thomas or Tremont Waters. Wade was an impeccable recruiter and put loads of NBA talent in Baton Rouge year in and year out.
That being said, there is a difference between the talent of a Sweet 16 team like we had with waters and a bubble NCAAT team. Even though we aren't as talented as the Sweet 16 team we had with Waters or the second round team led by Thomas, that doesn't mean we can't have success. I'm just saying we're talented ENOUGH to not go 2-16 in conference like we did last year. You don't need a team loaded with 5 NBA players to make the NCAAT.
Currently, we aren't talented enough to be the SEC champions or make a deep run in the tournament. All me and the other realistic basketball fans ask for is some improvement. Middle of the pack in the SEC. Around a .500 record. NIT run or a bubble NCAAT. Some growth. Some sign of life. Year 2 is a year you want to build upon, not take a step back from year one. It's still early and a lot of the season is yet to be seen, but it's not looking great. I'm just gonna take it game by game and enjoy every win, because there might not be too many of them this year unfortunately.

You do realize that this allegation did not stand up, right. The NCAA alleged it, but that IARP did not ultimately find that the NCAA supported that allegation.

Funny, it was a top 20 (transfer) class last year and a 17th ranked overall class in 2022. This is not a depleted roster.
That is a BS excuse. If this is a depleted roster then MM is to blame for that. NIL is there, he simply isn’t closing with big time players. How many top 5’s were we in last year and missed on nearly everyone.
