Wait was he convicted? If not he can plea go to angola, hunts, or others and get those programs. His bail has nothing to do with it once he’s sentenced. Sounds like he’s trying to get the programs to look good for parole.

95% of people here will read the thread title and not the content and make some remark about the reduction being inappropriate.

It is fricking inappropriate. HE SHOT AND KILLED SOMEONE. I don’t give a flying frick about his rights after choosing to take the life of another.

No doubt he will make great decisions with these new opportunities.
Hopefully he gets to vote too!

You can’t be this dumb. There is fricking video of it on the internet. You are a prime example of what is wrong with this country.

I didn’t know the constitution had verbiage about bond in it.

8th Amendment.

What Johnson did Monday with Simpson’s bail is not unprecedented. Several years ago, one of his former 19th Judicial District Court colleagues — Tony Marabella — slashed from $400,000 to $149,000 the bail of a Walker woman accused in the 2015 slaying of her convicted molester. Marabella did so to allow her to get medical treatment and to take advantage of certain Parish Prison programs not available to someone with such a high bail. The woman, Brittany Monk, was 17 and seven months pregnant with her boyfriend’s child when Robert Noce Jr. was found strangled, stabbed and stuffed inside a 55-gallon container in his Zachary trailer. Monk eventually pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 35 years in prison. Her boyfriend, Jace Crehan, 25, is serving a life sentence on a second-degree murder conviction.
What a HORRIBLE comparison.

Go do some research. His bond was not excessive for the charge and evidence presented against him. Would you feel differently if it was one of your family members murdered by this piece of shite?

Dude is lucky to still be alive. Should have been publicly executed months ago

I agree. However, you said that bonds were not in the US Constitution.

You understand he's not actually going to get out of jail, right? If someone tries to bond him out at $149k it will trigger a hearing that will bring his bond back up to $500k+. He's no more free than he was this morning.
And I would hope our court system follows the Constitution in ALL criminal matters, involving my family or not.

He pleaded not guilty to 2nd degree murder?

It’s only murder guys, lighten up. I mean, if they have video evidence of you shooting someone to death, and you bond out, are you really going to do anything else or flee?
