People need to stop fretting about who starts the first game. If that person does well, they'll start the second, if not, they may not.
Kelly isn't going to be afraid to make a change if needed. That may mean several starters throughout the year.

Nussmeier has a better relationship with these guys, it’s no secret. I believe starting Nuss gives us the best chance to compete for a Natty next year. I’ll go through growing pains first couple of games, just like we did with Joe (I.e dumb pick 6 against Florida trying to make a play). I really like Myles, but I fear the the O-line will not be stiff enough for him to stay in the pocket and throw. Nuss had pretty decent pocket awareness in his limited action last year (OM Arky). I’ll live with him forcing something in the first three games.

It's simple actually. He's the only qb on the roster that they actually worked with last year. JD transfered in and Miles wasn't around the team after hus injury in the preseason. Obviously the WRs would be closer with Nuss. I actually hope he wins the job.

Meanwhile, Kayshon Boutte who is a junior also advocated that Nuss be named the starter on the Tiger Rag Podcast and who knows better than Kayshon Boutte who the starter should be?
Who the frick cares? I remember when the players wanted Lowell Narcisse to start. We have coaches that have been coaching for decades and some of these players are playing with D1 athletes for the first time ever.

If nuss isn't the starter by the beginning of next year something has gone wrong.

If we lose Nuss, we’re fricked in the short term at QB unless Walker is fully ready next year.
Starting Nuss this year just to keep him on the roster is as good of a reason as any if all the QBs are close in competency
This is a very valid point. If we have already conceded that we aren't winning a national championship this year and the ceiling is 10-2, wouldn't we want to start and break in a qb that's going to be around next year? For the record I believe Nuss is much better than Myles, but if they were 50/50 then wouldn't it be better for the program for Nuss to start so we're not starting over with a new qb again next year? This would not only keep Nuss in the program, but give us something to build off of going forward

This is the best take on the QB competition I have read. Too many people are consumed and used to the Les Miles / Ed O era of not knowing when to play the right QB (seasons not including 2 years of the Burrow era).
CBK will play the QB that gives us the best chance to win— that decision can be made for the season, or in game (see Music Bowl and Citrus Bowl history LSU vs ND). The guy has forgotten more football than most of us will ever know.

That’s right. People get all worked up about who the starter is but whoever it is will have a short leash. Kelly isn’t afraid to yank a QB like some of our previous coaches. I assume we’ll see Myles start based on if he picks up the playbook quickly. But if he ain’t getting it done Nuss will be out there pretty quick. Kelly isn’t going to have the blind loyalty that Les had.

Hey guys this is all bullshite. At one time the players wanted some left handed, couldn’t hit the stands inside tiger stadium, and when transferred out ended up losing his starting job at some podunk school. The players wanted that to start over one of the greatest QB’s in college football history…..take player talk with a grain of salt at most

That's what Nick Dias said he heard from a player's father, but it is more than a little obvious Nick Dias made up that entire story. In other words Dias lied.
Stopped reading here. I know Nick, he’s a total buffoon, knows nothing and has no sources. Disregard him

Nonetheless, how do you explain a junior, Kayshon Boutte, also lobbying for Nuss to be the starter?
WTF does that have to do with Nabors' interview?

While I believe Kelly is a superb coach I do worry about his ability to select a QB. He had a poor track record with that at ND

That is now 2 WRs that have had the most to say about Nussmeier

I know what one of the receivers on the team said. He could be lying or misconstruing the situation but I do know for sure that’s what he said.

According to one of them, the coaches are telling Nuss stuff that makes him believe he won’t be the starter. I could see BK starting one of the vets the first few games to let the team settle in before they put Nuss in. Our defense alone should get us through the first few games. This makes no sense
What about this makes no sense?

Brian Kelly. Haven’t you gotten your fill of knuckleheads making football decisions?
