It was definitely Help Mac Pack. Another embarrassing moment for LSU sports. Sometimes our fans are just plain ridiculous. Cholly Mac was a good man and a good coach.

I thought the cheer was: "Run, run, pass, punt!"

Without a doubt, it was BEYOND Mac's time to go...
Yes, I know his record, but the game had outgrown him, and recruiting was reaching an entirely new stage where he had no chance to relate to lots of athletes.
I appreciate what he did, but was VERY glad to see him go.

When Curley was signed, the big bumper sitcker slogan was "Crazy Bout Curley." After the 3rd year and a little cut & paste, it became "Curley Bout Crazy."

This lack of entertainment value and Cholly Mac's inability to beat The Bear led to his dismissal.

again, mac had numerous years of very average records...entertainment value & not beating the bear wasn't the reason he was fired.

I have to admit I wanted Mack to go. However, through the years I have come to understand from people that did know him that he truly was a very good person. I now wish I had supported him more.

I believe the reason we went through the Dark Ages with curley, archer and dinardo was a result of the bad karma fron HOW we got rid if Cholly Mac. Hiring that prick Dietzel as AD. A job Cholly Mac should have gotten, and proved he was capable of from his running of the Tangerine Bowl.

Dietzel, what a boob he turned into.

Between him and Bottomline Bob Broadhead it's a wonder LSU still has an athletic department.
