Mainieri made TWO decent runs at a title in his entire time here. LSU was never close to sniffing a title outside of 09 and 17. Not surprisingly most of our fans are willingly able to swallow mediocre results. It’s all the bootlickers have ever known from cradle to grave.
he took lsu to Omaha four times and win the SEC three or four times.

this makes zero sense.

Cool. Now show his record there without 09 and 17…For the “best program in college baseball”…

I’m sure if you read it again it’ll click.

I swear… some of you are participation trophy parents, and it shows big time.

His 2nd best team he had was ’13. They were possibly the best team in the country that year. Unfortunately they didn’t get it done in Omaha. A few guys crushed some balls that would have been out of most ballparks.

‘15 was another damn good team.

Theme of the thread so far.

For the record, I don’t count MAKING Omaha as “sniffing a title”… I’m talking actually winning games there, getting into actually having a shot at making the championship series.

Since win did simply making Omaha become the standard?

LSU used to expect to go and win the whole thing.

Let's go down the list.

2022: Bianco. 3-seed. Miracle run. Every other coach in the NCAA is a failure this year.
2021: Lemonis. #7 national seed. He is now on the hot seat to be fired.
2019: Corbin. Congrats. You are a good coach. Or is he? Bounced from his own regional as a national seed multiple times.
2018: Casey. Third title. Is he a good coach? His 2017 56-6 team was a complete failure according to you.
2017: Sully. (Florida's first title) Finally got his NC after falling short a bunch of times. Hadn't gotten out of a Regional in 3 straight seasons until this year.

2013-2016 is the same thing each time. A school's first title.

There's been two teams since 2011 that weren't the school's first title. One was Vandy, who got their first in 2014, and Oregon State, who got their first in 2005.

Like it or not, the game has changed. These schools in the CWS now basically didn't exist in the 90s when it comes to college baseball.

Yes.

Lame excuse.

It’s not an excuse it’s the truth and it only lasted for a very short period of time.

Mainieri brought Crews, Jobert, Beloso and Travinski on board. Not exactly small guys.

Pretty sure the small player label is his affinity for small middle infielders.

Trivia question. How many times has Tim Corbin been to Omaha?

Good luck to him. I personally don’t care about The U. Good luck to Paul and I wish him all the best.

Take one national title and up to one runner up from every program and name all the programs left. There may be max two

Corbin has been to Omaha 4 times in 20 years. I don’t care what they were when he took over. They’ve been dominant since the mid 00s and he has 4 trips to Omaha to show for it. Yes, that Corbin, the dude who falls on his face in home regionals more than anyone

He’s been 5 times and played for four championships.

Pretty good I’d say.

Look at Vanderbilt’s record before he got there.

CPM inherited a beast. Even Cheese Fries Laval could make Omaha.

And Paul went 5 times, yet somehow he wasn’t a good coach. You’re either dumb or completely devoid of rationality or both

Let me dumb this down… one took over a bottom dweller and made it a power.

One took over a power and sucked the life out of it.

Idiot. Vandy last made a REGIONAL in 1980 before Corbin.
