With two games under his belt, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is No. 5 in the College Football QBR rankings from ESPN.
Daniels is the No. 1 quarterback from the SEC in the rankings.
So far, Daniels is 36-46 (78.3%) for 346 yards, with five touchdowns and zero interceptions. He also has 19 rushing attempts for 132 yards (6.9 avg) and one touchdown on the ground.

But some idiot on the rant said he was bad?... Does not compute.

It's only been 2 games and he's still not seeing wide open guys, so he has a lot of room to improve which should be encouraging. He needs to keep his eyes downfield and stop thinking he's at Arizona St. where he needed to play hero ball.
Lsu doesn't need hero ball.

He was very good vs Southern.

now imagine what he could do with a half decent o line

Was listening to a podcast the other day (can't remember which one) and they pointed out that Daniels, particularly so far this season, is very risk averse.
I think we can all agree that we'd rather him tuck it and run for a handful of yards rather than try to force a throw that isn't there.
Compared to what we saw from Nuss, we've got a guy who will protect the ball and not take unnecessary risks.

I’d much rather he pull it for a first down than try to force a throw into coverage and turn the ball over.
Just because Burrow could make a ton of throws, doesn’t mean any QB can. If he knows the limitations of his arm talent, then good on him.

He completed 74% of his pass attempts (with a few drops) and ran for 114 yards against FSU. That 'aint chopped liver.

I think he had some improvement with this against SU. Hopefully he keeps improving each week.

He definitely takes care of the ball! Keeps it out of harms way!

Thus far, the guy is 35/45 (78%) and is averaging 7 yards per rush without taking a ton of sacks/losses. He has, at best, an inconsistent OL and running game. He showed the ability to hang in the pocket, go through progressions, and make throws on the final drive vs. FSU. Has he probably taken off and ran a bit too early on some plays? Sure. But I don't blame him if he doesn't fully trust his protection...and it's not like he scrambling around and taking huge losses.
It is only two games...one of which against completely overmatched competition, but he has, BY FAR, been LSU's best offensive weapon. More than that, he's not putting the ball in harms way. I was high on Nussmeier like a lot of people on here. But Saturday nigh showed his is still reckless with his decision making.

Yes Saturday, to me anyway, clearly demonstrated Daniels is the better QB at this time. We are criticizing him running with the ball too quickly even though he is averaging 7 yds when he does it. This is a much better problem than the many that Nuss has right now.

The problem is he doesn't have to force it in. He is not seeing wide open guys. I don't think he knows the routes, so he can't throw to where they are going to be. A couple times Boutte was wide open down the field, but he would have to throw it prior to him being open.
By the time he sees it, its too late.

Pray to God he stays healthy. We are fricked if his backup sees any sort of significant time.

Man, you’re a fricking idiot. Just about every close game—specifically the upsets—proved just about everything you said last week wrong. That said, I appreciate the commitment to your dumbassery.

taking care of the ball is important and he has done that. the QBR weights turnovers significantly as it should.

The frick they don't. They needed hero ball from the QB with Jefferson, Chase, Moss, and Edwards on the field at the same time. They have a weak OLine and they aren't handing it off to Fournette and [Name Redacted By LSUSports].

Typical ignorant fan. This oline is a lot better than you think.
