What a load of shite if it happens. if he knew there was a chance he would still sign, he shouldn't have given the largest fanbase in college baseball so much optimism
Things changed. There probably wasn't a chance until Brady Aiken went to Houston for an MRI. That isn't an exaggeration.

Meh. I don't blame the kid for being excited about both possibilities. Lee probably didn't have a twitter.

Agreed, but he definitely could have handled it better

I don't blame the kid. The system is just shitty.

I'll clarify that I don't even have a twitter, but his tweet about turning the 'stros down is uncalled for if he signs. At least Zach lee kept quiet
Mac was very outward with his intentions to come and stay at LSU but he didn't mean any bad intent with it. Money talks.
Who is to blame about this is Mainieri popping off the media about retaining all these kids 3 different times.

Let's see the outcome of this before we plow over anyone with the bus

I just don't see how Houston would have the time to do these moves at this point. Their number 1 priority is still Aiken. I can't imagine them having enough time to finally work out a deal with him and then still be able to get a deal in place with Marshall.
Probably just wishful thinking on my part, but it would be a challenge for them to complete all this in 1 day.

Marshall said this himself 2 days ago:

"It would be tough to try and get everybody signed by the deadline," Marshall said.

I don't expect many 17/18 year olds to know how best to handle this. Hell, look at Cartwright and he had multiple meetings about how to handle social media...

Yeah, I'd like to repeat that I don't blame Mac for this at all and I think he handled this very well. I wouldn't have changed anything if I were him.
He had/has real intentions of staying at LSU. But if you have a set number going into the draft and that mean offers you it, you would be a hypocrite of yourself if you didn't take it.

Yeah, and the Astros have had the last 3, so the suck even harder.

Well, he didnt know what he was talking about. Contracts can be drawn up way ahead of time. Dollar figure changes are easy.

PM will bitch about the draft system on Monday you can guarantee it.

now that's bullshite. this is Maineri's livelihood that unfortunately hinges on the decisions of multiple 18-year-olds. Maineri wouldn't say things like that unless the Marshall family gave him evry reason to be that confident. He never spoke like this about other MLB draftees because I am sure their respective families handled it in the correct manner. I have certainly bashed Maineri a time or two, but that's ridiculous to spin this on him
This is all assuming he signs of course. What are the percentages we are talking about here?

This. If he doesn't sign, then all this "He shouldn't have said this" talk is moot. 18 hours...

Momday's rant should be fun.
Itd be better if someone sticks a microphone in his face at 4:30 tomorrow

Don't understand why a kid would want to play for the worst franchise in sports for a measly 1.5 million, when he can wait three years while being coached by the best pitching coach in college baseball and follow in the foot steps of Gausman, Nola, and Ranaudo and be drafted by a real organisation in the first round.
Or he could risk his arm for three years, not turn into Gausman, Nola, or Ranaudo and still only get 1.5 in three years anyway. Or worse, deal with injuries and not get anything near 1.5 in three years.

There are no percentages. But I think it's more likely than not that he signs with the Astros before the deadline tomorrow.
