However, those who are anticipating a swift Orgeron departure will likely be sorely disappointed.

quote:

Under Les Miles’ tenure, LSU had many great players including Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry and Patrick Peterson but the program had slipped over his last four seasons.

In those four years, Alabama had 10 first round picks while LSU had three.

quote:

Back the present, Ohio State transfer quarterback Joe Burrow seems to be winning over the coaching staff in his brief time in Baton Rouge. He gets plaudits for his accurac and his leadership.

If Burrow is as talented as the LSU coaches believe, the Tigers, despite an onerous schedule, are likely to exceed seven wins.

Teams with good quarterback play and excellent defensive front sevens have a tendency to be relatively successful or better than expectations.

quote:

On the Tigers Football Caravan in Metairie, defensive coordinator Dave Aranda noted how lack of depth on the defensive line caught up with the Tigers last season.

He doesn’t anticipate that being the case in 2018.

Aranda said last year some of his d-lineman played 60 snaps per game, when the optimum number was about 36.

quote:

Unless LSU wins five or fewer games this fall – in other words, a total train wreck – Orgeron will be back in 2019, perhaps with one of the best recruiting classes in the history of of the program.

Given he is the worst head coach in Ole Miss history, and he only got 9 wins last year with the easiest schedule in 20 years, he doesn't deserve any job security unless he can somehow give us a good 2018, but that's just me.

Miles 10 wins is program slipping but O winning more than 7 this year is a positive? I love the class O is putting together but he still has to coach. Historically that’s where he struggles.

Hanging on for dear life lol. The fact that these articles are written and posted here speaks volumes about the true confidence level people have in this regime doesn't it?

ill go on record as saying that people say they'd be ok with lots of things in the summer but once the losses start happening the patience runs pretty short and it will get ugly. He better win more than 8 games or he's not safe at all.

Likely better than seven whole wins if the QB is as good as he thinks?? Setting that bar pretty low aren’t we

Yeah, they are.

So why are we talking about seven wins
again??

No excuses, I like it

36 snaps a game for DL?? When has that ever happened??

I’m guessing that Aranda said the part about the 60 snaps and the “writer” added in his own thoughts on the “optimum” number

Right, because 7-5 or 6-6 wouldn’t be a total train wreck either

My God how times have changed. I didn't read the article, but those two quotes show just how far the expectations have fallen around LSU football.

Yep. If we really catch some breaks we can win 8 games. It's amazing how the narrative changes.

Quick someone tell me why we fired Miles again? Oh that's right bc he regressed to 9-3/8-4 seasons.

This shite reads like Orgeron took over a floundering program lol

Kickoff is coming folks. Nowhere to hide. Enjoy the rest of the summer and cling to your hype bc soon it's win or stfu time

Orgeron appears to be back, unless this season becomes a total meltdown which no one believes, not with this defense and a seasoned QB like Burrow likely starting on offense

Will Wade had what he would call a season that does not meet his standards in his first year and yet nobody is talking about his job security.

It's almost like people have confidence in him. The media and fans alike.

Seriously if anyone really believes Orgeron is the right guy then why are there already articles talking about this? It's not a matter of if it's a matter of when and even the media seems to know it

Orgeron is easily the worst coach in the SEC. He is a train wreck waiting to happen.

Where is his game seasoning? How many starts does he have? How many more game snaps does he have over, well, let's say MB. Not saying he can't play well but people keep throwing this out like it is a given he will make big plays with no downside.

I do not believe expectations have fallen, except with a few. Just because you can write an article, does not mean you speak for the whole, or even majority of, Tiger fans. I expect there will be 3-5 games this year that could go either way (I felt the same way before 2011 started). Winning most, if not all of those games, separates the average/poor coaches from the good/great coaches. The first game and first month of this season will tell us right away which direction the program is moving.

Lol O has job security but not because of anything Ed Daniels argues in that piece.

Alleva and O are tied at the hip. Alleva will never admit he is wrong about O.

O is here until we get another AD.

Alleva will go first

But who knows when it’ll come. LSU BOS apparently likes paying first class prices to fly in the overhead compartment

I hope O goes undefeated and all you haters kill yourselves. You people are the worst with your constant negativity and actively rooting for O to fail.
