A rebuilding year where the starting quarterback was booted at the last minute, followed by 2 years of improvement and re-ascension to the top 10.
See UGA for an example of where this could have gone if the coach had lost direction.

Les does the moral lesson and kicks off the QB and with that comes starting true freshmen. Those years to were SEC national championships...its not an easy conference...someones gotta win and somones gotta lose

we see a sharp decline after a NC, then a steady rise. according to the formula you present (except the blunders) we should be National Champions next year. especially if Alabama, and FLorida maintain their current status!

Let's not forget that when Saban left for the NFL, it was less than 6 weeks away from the day recruits sign their letter of intent.

Don't forget - he also lost an excellent D-coordinator in that bad stretch. And, he was able to return to an 11-2 record with a very mediocre O-coordinator and less than mediocre Starting QB situation.

How about post the entire picture of the subject if you want to make a point?
Anyone can find undesirable point of view if you only look at a small portion of the picture/history.

blah blah blah. three years is a legitimate cycle to look at a program.

The team is CLEARLY Trending UP. The team has CLEARLY gotten better.
What more do you want in those 3 years? LSU was predicted to not even be in the SEC title hunt -- yet, the team WAS close this year.
