Its not about stops IMO. Its about making Bama settle for field goals.

Need to make as many stops as necessary. Goal is a stop every time, reality? depends on how many stops, IF ANY, the Gump D gets.

What is LSU’s third down % on defense for the year?
Unfortunately we might need more stops in one game than they’ve gotten all year combined.

We’re going to need some luck, and a big turnover for the defense to contribute to a win.

I still think it’s a shootout we win by one point.

Maybe that counts as a stop.

4 stops, 2 per half at least, LSU wins.

It's bad. They're allowing 45% on third (105th in the country) and 53% on 4th (75th in the country)

Opponents have scored 100% of the time against LSU in the red zone. Not all TDs but every red zone trip has resulted in points (131st in the country).

Simply put, they're going to have to do things they havent been able to do with players who havent done it bacause the coaching staff didnt think they were better than the guys who havent been able to get it done so far.

5 is my number as well. If LSU stops them 5 times, LSU wins.

Five punts with none of them being muffed by LSU special teams.

Alabama had 13 possessions against UT.

If we force a punt/TO/end of half on 5 of those possessions then that leaves 8 scoring drives.

IMO, you need to force at least 4 of those to be FGs. So you hold them to 40 points.

7X4 TDs = 28 + 3X4 FGs= 12 for a total of 40 points.

If the offense can play like we know they can, then we score 40+.

Literally no excuses for this. I’m sorry but the talent we have is better than this. I hate Matt House with a passion. On that third down stat, I wonder how many were 7 yards or more.

Wait, never mind. I don’t want to know.

As for the OP: I’d be shocked if Bama punts twice.

Improvement from the defense this week with all the new guys is almost as much of an indictment on the coaching staff as deserving of accolades.

3 stops, it’s a shootout … maybe a loss.

4 stops, we probably win.

5 stops, we win.

FGs count as a 1/2 stop.

Hope they get only 8-9 possessions, 10 max as we work some clock and have a couple of long time-consuming drives.

3 TD plus PAT- 21 points
2-3 FG, say 3 = 9 points
30 points total
4 stops

We score 38-41 points for the win

If they score a 4th TD that is 28 points = 37 points or 38 if they go for 2 and convert on one of the TD
