Good morning, the below resource links sponsored by LSU.edu are intended to provide LSU supporters information about the plans for LSU's campus.

What is planned and budgeted for LSU?

I did some digging, and found on the LSU.edu website a Master plan... dated October 2017, the foreword features President Alexander.

LSU Finance and Administration

The LSU Planning, Design, and Construction Department reports to the Facility and Oversight Department

The Master Plan for LSU is a PDF file 166 pages long... Link to page- see Master Plan under Resources You can read about the committee, the members involved, the vision and their mission statement as they set out to plan LSU's future.

There are renderings of recent projects but it is very difficult to find on the website... I could not click my way to the very few renderings w/ budget summary and dates, you have to google "LSU Construction projects", which leads me to believe the LSU website needs updating or additional resources to keep it current.

I think it would be great if we could see "in progress" photos of these projects.

Here are some renderings with estimated costs.

Updated Renderings from late 2022

We are currently in the process of remediating our planning documents to create accessible versions. This process is on-going. Due to the large number of plans involved, it will likely take several years to complete. If you are attempting to access a document that is not currently in an accessible format, please contact Amy Loe at amyloe@lsu.edu or 225-578-5902 and our office will provide you with assistance.

They’re about to flatline a lot of inner campus tailgate areas that are accessible by vehicle…not that LSU cares in the least. This effort to push tailgating to the campus edges continues.

I wouldn’t worry about that too much. The only things in this plan you can count on maybe getting completed are building renovations/expansions. And the Huey P and Art buildings are already completed, with little effect on tailgating.

Was there some sort of renovation to the Quad over the summer? On the School of Architecture's Instagram (graduate, here), I saw on their story a photo taken from the Atkinson Hall balcony...looked like some sort of construction work was wrapping up. I'm assuming it may have been some sort of drainage project...and was confined to that end of the quad

Awesome thank you sir!

A map of where this library is going would be nice to know, along with renderings to click through? Since LSU paid 3 million for Design work, these plans and renderings should be available for LSU supporters. How is this not so provided it's a 232 million dollar project?

Who is managing the web-site? (the note about taking years to upload the plans- seems like a plea for help)

Also, what are the plans for the existing Library? If it's coming down, what's going in its place?

Here's LSU's FY 24-25 capital outlay request for tFlagship & AgCenter based on campus priority.

New Library (Learning Commons)

Pre-planning/design work initiated last year. They went with Brightspot Strategy + Coleman Partners + Eskew Dumez Ripple, AJV. I can't find any renderings but details can be found here. LINK

They're demolishing the current library and will create a new quad on the southside of campus near PFT. Library is Building 1 on the map below. They're also requesting $90MM for a 'Construction Management Building' which I assume will be Building 4 on the map below.

OLOL Interdisciplinary Science Building

Building 2 on the map above. They're currently renovating the Food Science Building (118 S Campus Dr) which will temporarily house the Dairy Store, etc. then expect them to start construction on the new science building below.

LSU AgCenter Food Innovation Center (FOODii)

Other Projects (No Renderings)

Parker Coliseum Renovation
Deferred Maintenance for Infrastructure & Streets
Veterinary School New Auditorium Addition
Campus Lighting Improvements

The most strategic thing that LSU could do is systematically buy up all of the properties outside of the North gate!

Amen. They do own that plot of land on the corner of W Chimes & Lake St just FYI.

BRAF/CPT has also recently bought up a lot of land along Nicholson between downtown and campus. Need to push the trash away from campus.

You're not wrong, but they had several years to do just that after that developer put all of that land up for sale along Nicholson Drive, but eventually the Baton Rouge Area Foundation's for-profit arm ended up buying it. LSU could still maybe negotiate with BRAF to acquire that land and build a north campus.
