The group of 6 bowls in the SEC suck. If you don't get into the playoff or the sugar basically you are just left for dead in conference politics. You think Florida got in the citrus because they are a quality that exciting to watch?

Dude, we got the weakest fricking bowl. That is one bowl from no bowl.

The citrus is in fact a tier above, so yea that'd be cool. It goes to the sec #2. We weren't getting that one. After that, they are the same. I'd rather it be in my town.

Would everyone be more happy with the season if we got the outback bowl? The season is what it is. Unless it's playoffs, sugar, and to a lesser extent citrus, this dubious "prestige" is the same between the rest.

Money-wise it may be irrelevant, but playing in January is still a feather in the cap for all schools nationwide

I'd rather us be playing on 12/31, wouldn't you?

The SECE has sucked for a almost a decade and they still get preference for Florida bowls over better SECW teams.

It's a fricking joke.

Interesting trend we've got going on at LSU...

2011: BCS National Championship game (vs Alabama)

2012: Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl (vs Clemson)

2013: Outback Bowl (vs Iowa)

2014: Music City Bowl (vs Notre Dame)

2015: Texas Bowl (vs Texas Tech)

The Tech women are definitely the best from that group. Looking forward to some Pac-10 squads.

I mean you cant sit here and say that the East doesnt have a much better position.

the bowl spot we are in now is the slot for the old cotton bowl which is the equivalent to the outback bowl.

Heres the previous pairings

January 1, 1999 #20 Texas 38 #25 Mississippi State 11 notes
January 1, 2000 #24 Arkansas 27 #14 Texas 6 notes
January 1, 2001 #11 Kansas State 35 #21 Tennessee 21 notes
January 1, 2002 #10 Oklahoma 10 Arkansas 3 notes
January 1, 2003 #9 Texas 35 LSU 20 notes
January 2, 2004 #16 Mississippi 31 #21 Oklahoma State 28 notes
January 1, 2005 #15 Tennessee 38 #22 Texas A&M 7 notes
January 2, 2006 #8 Alabama 13 #20 Texas Tech 10 notes
January 1, 2007 #10 Auburn 17 #22 Nebraska 14 notes
January 1, 2008 #7 Missouri 38 #25 Arkansas 7 notes
January 2, 2009 #20 Mississippi 47 #8 Texas Tech 34 notes
January 2, 2010 Mississippi 21 #21 Oklahoma State 7 notes
January 7, 2011 #11 LSU 41 #18 Texas A&M 24 notes
January 6, 2012 #7 Arkansas 29 #11 Kansas State 16 notes
January 4, 2013 #9 Texas A&M 41 #11 Oklahoma 13 notes
January 3, 2014 #9 Missouri 41 #13 Oklahoma State 31 notes

TCU would be the opponent under that.

The SEC took away the biggest non BCS SEC west Bowl and the most evenly selected bowl with the Peach and added nothing for the west teams.

In 20 years the Texas Bowl history will look better than it does now, assuming the setup doesn't change (which it will). Not quite as good as the cotton, because of how the picks are done, but it essentially replaced the cotton.

Yes, the east has the benefit of playing bowl games on the east coast, and those were typically better bowls. In time, the nature of the bowl will be dictated by the quality of the teams in them. You really can't look at the history of teams anymore, because of how differently it's done.

Eta: replaced it geographically, before you shite a brick on that one.
